exhaust setup question
Tuesday, April 07, 2009 2:54 PM
my car is lowered almost 2 inches therefore the ride is bouncy. as a result i had to change flex pipe in the exhaust twice last year. so this time i went with straight through pipe instead. the guy that did the welding disapproved and kept saying "this is what you want" "whatever makes you happy". so my question is can this change do any harm to my exhaust system or any other components... i mean does it only have to be flex pipe welded in there, and if so what are the reasons/causes my setup can have?

get some urethane replacement mounts and you won't need flex pipe anymore. and if you did your setup properly (with struts rated to handle the drop) your ride wouldn't be bouncy.

^^ agreed. The reason you have a flex pipe is because the engine moves with the factory mounts. If you upgrade to eurethane, the motor will no longer move, so you can use a hard pipe all the way.

And if your ride is bouncy, it sounds like you lowered on stock or stock replacement struts. If you lowered on D-Specs, Konis, or even AGXs, then you need to adjust them to a higher setting.

Quiklilcav thanks for that info on flex pipe... I have had urethane motor mounts installed ever since i got the car... I couldn't bare looking at the engine move around like that.
