Is there a digit in the vin that tells what trans is in the car? It will either be a sunfire or cavalier if it makes a difference. Thanks

I don't know, that why I want to know if there is a digit in the vin i can check.

I can't. all I have is the vin milage year, condition of title.

No, there is no digit in the VIN that indicates the transmission. The 8th digit indicates the engine, but that's as close as you'll get.

You'd have to take the VIN... go to a GM dealer, and have them look up the original build options of the car. Then they'll be able to tell you the RPO codes that the car came with. That doesn't mean squat if stuff has been swapped out by a previous owner though...
