i drove exactly 88.7
miles from the time my low fuel indicator came on until the car died. i kept it at about 60
mph. (no cruise)
and it was this car.
2002 "Cavfire"
click link for car info.
hope that helps ya.
oh i was in upper michigan in the middle of nowhere all the gas station were closed by 10pm... lol i only ended up walkin bout a qtr mile to a gas station tho!
My car was made with wrenches, Not chopsticks.
^^^ wow...
you got approx 3 gallons from when your light came on, i know my 2000 only has 1 gallon left after the light comes on... if it comes on, and i drive 20 miles to a gas station, my car will fill up 15.2 gal or so when it finally is full to the spout.
knowing these tanks are around 15ish gal, i must assume i get 1 gallon of reserve
The 2.2L Ecotec Motor gets better gas mileage then a quad or garbege EFI 2.2L, say whatsever u want ECOTEC 2.2L kills any previous engine in a cavalier for gas mileage.
Ecotec 2.2L 550K on 48 L City and upto 700K Highway
And anyone who says their non ecotec cavalier gets over 500 is full of it and just making up Garbege.
have you ever owned a quad? they make about 28 MPG Hiway ... not sure how that converts to canadian but i see 400+ miles with my Quad motor
please don't be that ecotec nut swinger on here, because there are enough people here that will correct your misconceptions...
Speedline02 I must agree with you. Paul stating that his Ecotec gets 700K on the highway converts to 435 miles. I have been getting an average of 30 MPG with my 2.4L. That comes to around 465 miles with a 15.5 gallon tank. Your 28 MPG goes 434 miles which converts to 698.5 Kilometers. I guess someone needs to do some research and math before they start trying to trash non ecotec.

whats this gas light you all speak of? i dont know about you guys but i like saving my fuel pump from heating up and extra wear and tear on it. the fuel cools it in the tank. the more you run it below 1/4 the hotter it gets and takes away some of the life span. i have never had my car below 1/4....

w3rd. my x gf just didn't see it the same, which is why i've replaced my fuel pump before it's life expectancy.
^^^
I agree with you. I never let my car get below 1/4 tank. I was just trying to pass some info on to Paul about the MPG between the Ecotec and a non ecotec.
I also need to make a correction: I stated a 15.5 gallon tank and it should be a 15.2 gallon tank. You folks, that know how to do math properly, can correct the MPGs. Regardless, a non ecotec still gets good gas mileage if taken of.

i dunno what you're talking about but i do know ecotec does more, mine does 770 Km's on 48L's so whatever that is MPG
this is also on Shell Gasoines i am the only owner STP & in Synthetic's transmissions flushed every 25K quad four seems less with 698.5 K's lol but anyhows just wanted to hear reviews about ecotec motors not quad fours but nice information tho never been beat by a quad four on street gotta love the real 03-05 cavy B&M short shifter but for 140HP the ecotec sure has a lot of torque too go with it when you hammer er,
Auto Z24 without a Muffler is A lot of fun power Burn gas Liek there's no tomorrow tho, i'm sure you owner's of Auto Z-Types Etc know what i mean tho for you who have no muffler, my friend had a bad coilover Z24 damn did it ever have Power.. manual's the way to go but ya anyone Hiting over 790 KM's pure highway with your Ecotec's ?
Just a little side note Paul, the 30 MPG I get is a combination of city and highway driving. On a trip I took a little while ago, I got 35MPG which comes out to 532 miles on a tank full. Since you use metric, that comes out to 856.2K. I also do regular maintenance since I have owned the car since day one. Oil changed every 3000 miles (4828K) or 3 months. The cars performance and gas mileage just depends on how well it is maintained.
To convert your MPG to KPG, you are getting 37.74 MPG = 60.74 KPG. On a 15.2gal (or 57.54 L) tank you get a maximum range of 573.6 miles or 923.1K. You are getting about 47K further than a non ecotec 2.4. I am not going to squabble about that little bit of difference.

Okay here you go 975Km's on 48L to a T i put in if i absolutely drive her nice and don't tell me your 923.1.. lol K isn't doing the same.
anyhows man its settled my ecotec does more then ur quad four i'd bet u 100$ i could drive further then you, i dunno why ur talking in my post anyhows man you're bit weird. lol
It also depends on the weather, how the car is driven, the car itself(weight, tire pressure, wear&tear etc)

are you smoking crack? seriously?
First of all the gas light is relative to the gas tank, not the motor, and the MPG between the eco and the quad are very similar. either way you asked how much is reserved when the light comes on, which means gas in the tank, not what motor is in the car and how it burns it.
So you've never lost to a quad. care to come to the states and race on the track? your eco will lose... and not just because my motor came 150 WHP stock, its because its pushing between 200 - 250 all motor WHP now.
i <3 my real Z24... not your fake canadian one that doesn't exist in the US market (where your car was made)
According to the owner's manual:
Quote:
When the indicator nears empty, the CHECK GAGES light will come on. You still have about 1.5 gallons (5.7L) of fuel left, but you should get more soon.
But that's only true if the gauge is accurate to begin with...
Speedline02 (GME Chat!!) wrote:[...and the MPG between the eco and the quad are very similar.
yes it is, being that it's less than that of the ohv. i regularly see 35 MPG. yes, it's a stick. Yes, i maintain it. i've gotten as high as 40 mpg if i was being really anal aboot it.

No @!#$ he'll loose.. it doesnt take an rocket scientist to figure out 200-250whp>140hp, and ill be honest im glad they didnt change the Z24 to the LSS in 03+

Hmm... never thought about it that way... good point! My only problem is I love showing up to the track with only a 1/4, haha.
I got 36mpg highway on my 9 hour drive to the bash last year with my Quad. But I only get 25-26 going to work and back. In fact the buddy I was cruising with down to the bash had an Eco and had to stop for fuel long before I did. (Never mind the 2 gallon capacity difference
)
Paying someone to install parts and bragging about it being fast, is like watching someone bang your wife and being proud to raise their kids.

^^ way to break TOS and post a street racing vid up here...
anyway the sunfire is modded and the cavalier is heavier... the cavalier is bone stock and probably had the piss beat out of it for the additional 7 years.
show me something on a track... 00+ LD9 with getrag vs 02+ Eco with Getrag, even mods and weight...
----------
as for your first post... the original poster has been acting like an ecotec nutswinger since his second post in this thread, and thats why ive been giving him so much @!#$... and when he said he's never lost to a quad motor, i'll give him one he can't beat... and even if he invested the same amount of money in his motor, he still couldn't beat it, unless he went forced induction...
too bad they didnt show track times... and the cavalier mis-shifted really bad...
regardless why are we arguing stock vs stock... thats about as dumb as the original poster stating he's never lost to a quad motor...
however, since he said it, i have an all motor quad motor that he won't beat... Quad motors are naturally better for all motor, and ecos are better for boosting...
those videos are a joke what garbage shifter's lol.. ecotec maybe say 140HP but if you've ever driven one you know they feel like way more.
i have driven both. they both feel the same
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
