05 Cavi shift issue

So my fiance has an 05 cavi, and recently it has started randomly downshifting at diff speeds, the shifting back into gear. Some days are worse than others, has anyone else had this problem or know what may cause it?

It happens on the highway, and at slower speeds...

Is it an automatic? I would assume since it shifts on it's own. I would check the transmission fluid to start with.

03-05 cavs had a recall on the IAT sensor for bad wiring. causing the car (auto) to jerk, check into that

Last car that I had that started to randomly downshift then shift back into gear was out of gas. I would check to make sure you've got enough fuel pressure.
