i need to locate the engine number to match some data, could someone help me?
i just bought a 99 sunfire gt convertible, i wanted to match the vin number and engine number to my registration card, i guess its the serial number i need!

It's a 99 GT. If you can't pop the hood and see if it's a 2.4 DOHC, you need to quit now.
you are certainly missunderstanding me, almost every single engine block has a serial number stamped in it, thats the number i want
if you cant understand that, then i guess you are the one who should quit
Jesus Christ.....
i just need to know where in the block is that number stamped

Dude chill out...I was joking with Rich. That wasn't even remotely pointed at you. Hence the quote of Rich asking for the VIN to figure out the engine code.
the serial number isn't stamped into the block its a sticker thats installed when its built usually falls off in the first year
the only stamped mark on a 99 GT is LD9 on one of the cylinders forget if its front or back
like my engine says 3800 series II

Mr.Quick, i ow you an apologize, i was looking at this from my phone and small screen didnīt let me see the entire post, sorry about that man.
Thanks to NOTA2.4
there will be a flat machined pad somewhere on the block usually near bellhousing or near cyl head gasket machined deck surface where usually the last part of the vin code is stamped plus the foundry and date code and the code for the engines size and year and vehicle model it was originally installed in, usually a three digit code of letters only, or a combo of letters and numbers
