I'm doing the swap
the engine is from a grand am gt 2000
my sunfire gt 2000 is also
how it works for the wiring diagram
do use the harness grand am and pcm
thanks
Some users are going to say go completely 2000+ wiring and run an impala flash, and others, like me, will say piggyback the PCM's.
- Your not-so-local, untrained, uncertified, backyard mechanic. But my @!#$ runs
Can you explain to me what is a flash impala
sorry I do not speak English .. but I understand very well
but there is something I do not understand
piggyback the PCM's??
is a reprogramming
thanks
An Impala flash means reprogramming the car's computer to think it's an Impala. Piggybacking is going to involve wiring up parts of the J-body pcm and parts of the grand-am pcm, leaving the parts that are controlled by the other computer not hooked up. I haven't done it, but there are several others that can help you further.
then theres me that runs just the 3400 pcm, no bcm, aftermarket gauges. And flashed as a 98 monte carlo.
The language barrier here may cause some misunderstandings, but here is the deal:
For wiring, you will need the wiring diagram for both cars. Strip from the Sunfire harness everything that goes to the engine and computer. These wires will be replaced/spliced with wires from the 3400. Strip from the Grand Am harness everything that does not go to the engine and computer.
Get a vin# from a 2000-2002 Impala with the 3400, and have your Grand Am computer reprogrammed to the Impala program. This will allow the computer to run all of your Sunfire gauges properly. You will need to have the automatic transmission portion of the program removed (by someone with HPT or similar), and the anti-theft disabled.
ok thanks
Where can I find the wiring diagram

Where can I find the wiring diagram
I just went on ebay and bought the factory service manuals for the vehicles involved in my swaps, but the C100 pinout for the J-body is in the sticky. Somewhere I have scans of a few vehicles, but I'm not sure I have the one you need. I'll look around. I would search in this forum, because I believe I've posted some of them before.
ok thank you
if I understand
I need the following parts
engine harness -grand am
pcm engine- grand am
fuse box -sunfire
spinning inside- sunfire
find diagrams for ploguer it all together
Unless you wanna run a Megasquirt on it. I happen to know a guy getting rid of one.
i find it amusing that SHOoff has nothing better to do but follow me around & be an unhelpful dick in even cross-forum. - Jon Mick
sorry for my English is not great
I try to understand and make me understand
haha
I have a question
which party should keep the sunfire
and how should I take that part of the grand am

I'm sorry, but I'm really having a hard time with some of your statements.
Please try to explain more about what you are asking, and I will try my best to help.
I'll try .its not always easy

Mr. Quick - he's asking specifically which parts he keeps from the sunfire and which parts he keeps from the Grand Am.
i.e cluster, PCM, BCM, interior harness, engine harness, etc. Whatever's needed to run the car.
-Chris-
Not sure if he was talking about the engine or the suspension since I had asked about that.

thank you for your help
Now there will be someone who can help me
Ok buddy, all you need from the grand am is the engine side of the harness and the PCM. The BCM and all interior wiring stays Sunfire. You keep the C100 connector (main engine bay wiring connector) and the engine fuse block from the Sunfire as well.
il reste a trouver the wiring diagram lol
you should need nothing from the grand am except engine and accesorys and the wiring the only thing inside the grand am you would possibly need to touch is disconnecting the throttle cable if your gonna use it
JBO since July 30, 2001
what do you use as a radiator hose
the hose of my sunfire gt not working
