Hey guys, I have an 01 Sunfire, just recently took out a piston ring, and I'm not interested in tearing the motor down and rebuilding it for a car that really isn't worth dick anymore. However, I've had some trouble finding an entire 2200 motor locally, and am fishing for maybe some swap ideas. I'm looking for a simple swap (not because of lack of know-how, but for cost's sake). I've v8 swapped a 260z in the past, and recently my rotary pickup...so I'm no stranger to swaps. But I figure you guys might have a bit more input as to what swaps might be done with minimal major spending. Maybe something that would just require a computer, and/or adapters, etc?

Easiest would be another 2200... next up would be either the 2.4L (Twin Cam LD9) from 00-02 or the 2.2L Ecotec from 02-05. You will need transmission with the latter two, as well as the engine bay harness and computer.

Once it's in, you'll have to do a re-learn on the BCM to match the PCM, for Passlock. Instructions are in the FAQ.
