Ok my freind has a 1992 and he has a 1000watt explode amp and i think that is what may have fried the alternator. Is this possible? He had it replaced under warrinty and it happened again? Is theer something that can be done to prevent this from happening again?

Unbolt the power wire to the alternator.
Take a multimeter on the amperage setting while the car is off,
put one lead on the alternator's disconnected power wire,
put the other lead on the alternator's unbolted post.
If it reads anything other than 0 you have a problem.

read that link to the other post how would you go about testing how many amps an amp is dawing or how much the whole car is drawing? Multimeter on the amperage setting needs to be in series doesn't it. And I figure the wires on the multimeter anre to thin to just stick inline right at the battery. But i don't know, so any who does?
