Hey, I was just wondering what you guys think about this deck if any one has it. I might get it today and was just wondering if it is worth the $200. I will be getting the iPod connection with it also. In-car pics and any other opinions would be great. Thanks

Alpine makes good stuff. I wish we still had it at Circuit. My only complaint with them is sometimes it's hard to find things in the menus because there's so many options on the decks. You won't be disappointed.

I bought the very first one and i love it. It has great features. I t is even one of the direct connect headunits for the iPods which is why I bought this one. I suggest getting it and it is worth the $200.

^^^ I bought it Monday and had it installed yesterday. I havent taken any pics yet but I will. It is a very nice head unit. The iPod thing works great, and sounds better than a cd (seriously). It will also be great when I get my Type R's

how much did you pay for the installation?

Deck: $200 - $30(gift card) = $170
iPod Cable: $30
Parts: about $100 (custom parts were needed)
Labor: free with purchase of deck
I did everything through Best Buy, about 2 hour install, and total was about $300

What custom parts were needed? You have a cavalier where parts are readily available. This isnt a jag or a benz. if it was done at best buy there is nothign custom about it.

^^See thats what I don't understand either. They said it had to be done as a "custom" install and had to charge a little more. Mostly I think the custom charge was just so that they would make money on the installation, so it wasn't really free. But I don't really care. I had the money, and am very happy with the outcome so I don't really care that I had to pay like $50 more.

OK I got some pics. I had a lot more, but they didn't turn out (my digital camera takes horrible pics without the flash, and with it, the pics were too bright). So anyway, here's all I got.

looks great in there

the 'custom' parts needed were the gay ass wire harness that u need to keep ur door chimes i bet

do u still have them?

circuit city charged me 30 bucks for it and my labor was free too

yeah, the $100 was so the shop would make $$$ off you. I bought my dash adapter, wiring harnes and annatena adapter from best buy... $45 TOTAL, and there was no "custom" work involved...

Only other thing I could think of was the deck is longer than my pioneer, so they had to do some "slight" dremmal work behind the HU so it didn't stick out.

^^No, I lost the door chimes (good). The harness on the reciept was only like $13.
^No, they did not cut anything (good). I watched them for the whole 2 hour install. They just put it in there and it fits like a glove.

So I really don't know what the whole custom part was, but whatever. I really like this head unit, because it is like a dark chrome black color. It almost looks factory because of the dark dash/interior, and I like that a lot.

Uh, yeah, there's nothing "custom" that needs done. They got you for an extra $50, but if you're cool with that then cool deal.
