Need Help ASAP

i posted this on the interior forum, but maybe i can get help here as well as it's an eletrical problem.

i cant get the interior lights to turn on. they crapped out on me like 2 days ago and i need this fixed asap.i cant seem to find the problem.

its all the interior lights except the Head Unit cause its aftermarket. no ac, cluster, nothing. its like driving in darkness. when i try to turn them on, the LEDs i have in the AC vents turn on briefly and then crap out in less than a second so it looks like it wants to turn on and cant.

i dont think it has any effect, but my tranny was dropped like 6 months ago and i lost my lights. i took it to another mechanic cause the guy had no idea what he was doing and after my tranny was fixed, my lights worked again. now i had to take my tranny for servicing again and i lost my lights. on the transmission board, someone said it might be a common grounding problem... how would i check that..

all the fuses are alright. the first couple of days when it happened, when i turned my lights on they'd stay on for like 3 or 4 minutes and then shut off. if i turned the car off and turned it back on, then it'd work again for 3-4 minutes and then crap out. i'll double chk my fuses and remove my head unit. to see if anything is bare back there.

i also notice that something whines for half a second when they try to turn on. its like they want to, but cant for some reason. i double cheaked all of the fuses, they're all fine. PWR Acesories was blown, but i changed that and its fine.

maybe this has somethig to do with it? i think my head unit and dome lamp share the same power wire, so when i close my door and the light fades out, i hear it through my speakers. i was going to fix that tomm. the dome light still works though.. as do my headlights, its the the lights on the intrior side. if i cant get this wto work, i'll just end up buying a relay and having them turn on with the headlights.

Sounds like the gray wire in your radio harness is connected to something.... it shouldn't be.

just had a thought. i have the LED's in the vents set to turn on when i turn my headlights on(first click). if one of them was to come loose and ground itself out, could that make all my lights turn off? maybe thats why when i turn my lights on, the LED's flash briefly then fade off? i dont wanna have to take my dash apart again, but maybe i have to...

ok, well i took a wire from the pos of the battery and touched the positive of the dimmer next to the steering wheel, which is also where i have my LED's hooked up. they turned on briefly, there was some smoke, and then they turned off. i have a feeling i blew a fuse somewhere, but that probably confirms that a wire must have come loose and grounded itself, no?

Someone told me that I should disconnect the battery for 45 minutes and see what happens?

fixed it!!

the led's in the cupholders came los and shorted out. after i disconnected them, i still had no lights so i disconected the batt, waited ten min, and connected them without the shorted out ones. everything turned on. and not even 2 days later, i think i have my car sold. i r happy.
