"defeat" defeats any settings you have customized on the radio. it sets everything to the default settings, which may include bass or subwoofer being turned off.

defeat sets it to what the cd or radio suggests for that song.... it uses thier baselines...

what you want is hold down the menu for a few seconds and you'll get a x-over so you can play with your hi and low settings

Defeat tunes everything to the factorys flat settings. Period. Good for tuning and isolating problems from the ground up.

i have an alpine and i've worked with a couple others
Defeat is the default settings (i.e. everything at flat and/or 0)
when u hit menu 3 times it goes to treble level and frequency (in khz)
the bass setting before/after that is the bass level and frequency (in hz)
i looked at scottys unti on sat at the show and i have no clue
scotty did u try goin to their site and d/ling the manual, thats waht i did for mine
