Okay, I'll be designing/building a box for my new T210D4 subwoofer. Now, I've never built a box before so I'll need some pointers. First off, the recommended vented vol. is 1.5 cubes. I'll be doing an internal port, so I assume I'll need to subtract the outer surface area of that from the volume, correct? And this may sound stupid, but I'll want the box to be 1.5 ft³
before the displacement of the actual subwoofer, right? And finally, does the direction the port faces make a HUGE difference? I was thinking of putting it on top, but if it's better facing forwards, I'll come up with something. Thanks for any help!
in a trunk car most ports are on the same plane as the woofer.
Yes it will need to be 1.5 cubes before displacement
say it displaces .15 cubes. your box will need to be 1.65 cubes INTERNALLY!!
that is crucial if you make a box that is 1.65 cubes externally you are alot smaller inside it.
your port will need to be subtracted from the box.
also someone may correct me if im wrong. it wont be the port area you will subtract (H X W) it will be port area if it is a slot port it would be height of port X width of port X length of port divide the sum of that by 1728 and that will tell you how much volume your port takes up.
if its an aero i can not remember how to find the volume of a cylinder off the top of my head bro.
aeros take up substantially less space just remember to flange both ends or you can get port whistle.
cylinders are pi x radius squared x hight i believe...

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.
LOL
Thanks for the tips. Yeah I meant I was going to need to subtract the surface area of the port... basically the exterior volume. Sorry about the comfusion there. Other than that, I think you answered all the questions I had (for now). So now it's to the drawing board. Thanks again!
