Ok, so I put an new CD player (aftermarket of course) into my 2000 sunfire. Everything went suprisingly well considering all of the crap i have heard about wiring an all, but never the less, this went smoothly. Now, the only problem is that my dash lights went out. Fuses are all fine...was there accessory controlling fromt eh factory stereo that incorporated the dash/dimmer capbilities? I have heard of this happening a little, but is it anything i could fix or replace on my own with some diagrams ? I have taken apart crap before, but is it better to have a dealer do it? HELP PLEASE!
Give it a little love tap.
Does that really work? Or is it a temporary solution to a permanant problem?
The dash lights seem to be a reoccuring problem, but a love tap always makes it work again.
It is very common on the 03-05 3rd Gen.
New Picture comming this summer.
My 00 did the same thing, I couldn't get them back on for nothing! Finally just went & got a new cluster for it, works great now!

Had to chime in on this issue- I've seen it discussed all over this site, but never seem to uncover a working solution. In every case, someone installs an aftermarket HU and then loses their cluster and HVAC lighting. Some instances involve smoke/burnt smell from the dash (the dimmer switch baking out- personal experience). All of the lights and fuses are good (in the dash and under the hood).
I, too, am in that same situation, on a 97 Cav. No love tap has ever fixed it. Is there any true solution to this? I've done searches and read through thread by thread for this very issue with no luck.
Anybody?
