i need someone to explain to me and show an example diagram of how to make a box 4 cubic feet with 80 square inches of port, i am still confused on how to do this i know for an example if i had a sealed box that was 25 inches x 18 inches x 16 inches i would have a 4.1 cubic foot box but how do i change that into a ported one would the port be straight or in an L shape, and also if so there are three measurements to the port right the width, height, and length, so how do i convert those to equal 80 square inches, i am having a real hard time trying to figure this out please someone help, pictures work better lol

Well we need to know what dimensions you're going to go with, what tuning you want for your port, and all that good stuff...80 Sq inchs of port would be like 4inchs by 20 inchs or something, but i found with larger ports you need to also make it longer in order to get the proper tuning, maybe read up a bit on this before attemping because there is a lot of math and @!#$ that goes into designing a ported box...its easy math but theres still a bit of it and a simple error could throw your @!#$ way off

ok it is for a 15" RE XXX and i was told i needed a 4cubic foot box with a 80" port now could someone help me design that or am i on my own lol, its going into a 2 door 01 cavy and i would rather build it outside of the car instead of in it, if that helps at all
port area (your 80 sq inches) is how big your opeing is of your port.
So if your hole in your box is 8 inches by 10 inches, then you have 80 sq inches.

hey cavi sedan how does that sound? should i face it in the car like you have or turn it around facing the trunk?.. wysywyg i understand that part bout the 80 square inches but the port is measured by lxwxh so i need to know how to figure that out? how wide would the port be how high will the port be and how long will it be? thats where i cant figure it out, there are more than just 2 measurements right?

there are only two measurements for port AREA, that is width and height.
the lenght of the port determines the frequency which the box is tuned. use a number of calculators online to do that for you, or you can doingi it long hand, lol
the formula for that is as follows.
Av is the cross-sectional area of the port (in square inches),
Lv is the length of the port (in inches) and
Vb is the enlcosure's net volume (in cubic inches).
If you are using a slot port, and one wall of the box is also part of your port, then you would need to calculate end correction factor on top of that.

ok so going by the diagrams that cavisedan posted, which one should i go with if i want maximum spl numbers but still have decent bass during normal operation, the SQ, or the SQL set-up?
