Problem with stock CD player after hard bump
Thursday, July 27, 2006 10:08 AM
I was coming home from school today and hit this bump from hell. The road was going down when it leveled out a bit and then continued going down and then suddenly starts going back up. I didn't see it until it was too late so when I hit the level part my suspension compressed and sent me back to normal height as I was headed down the the final dip and the whole car came crashing down as I hit the hill to start going back up, it was a very hard hit. Shortly after my CD that was playing started constantly skipping so I took it out and it was covered in, what I can describe best as, dew. So, I wiped it off and put it back in and it spit it back out saying "Err." I tried another, "Err." Another, "Err." Then I just put on the radio.

Why won't it play CDs now?

if their was a cd in it the eye could have hit the cd or something actualy just broke and is bloking it from playing any cd's. i would be careful about putting in cd's thought my original oem deck started to not spit them back out. had to fight wit it for an hour to get the cd back. Just replace it.

I like the stock CD player, one less reason for some idiot to try an steal my @!#$.

Now, it seems to play CDs fine now but there is another problem. I may have gotten a little angry when it started skipping for no reason and I may have punched it. Now none of the lights work at night,

For real, you should get an Alpine or different headunit. I never thought I would get a new one either, but then when I did, I love it. Especially my Alpine (Alpine CDA-9856), that I can just play my iPod through and never worry about CD's again. And you can take the faceplate off and put it in the glovebox or somewhere locking so that it deters thieves away from stealing it. But honestly, it's the best $200 I have put into my car so far...
