Help me pick, ported or sealed Type R's

So what do you think, I'm gonna start on my sub box here soon.

heres the parts

Head unit-
-Alpine IVA-D300 in dash touch screen

Interiors speakers/amp-
-Alpine V12 MRV-F340 powering interiors
-Alpine SPR-17LS Type R 6.5 inch components (2 sets both going in the front, no rear speakers)

Subs/amps-
-Alpine V12 MRD-M1000
-Alpine V12 MRD-M500
-Alpine Type R 12's (3) the 1000 to the 2 dual 4 ohm subs, the 500 to the single dual 2 ohm sub, each sub will see 500 RMS (in therory, actual outpu will very slighly)

the subs are all going in the back seat which is sealed off from the trunk. I wanted to do ported box but I don't know if being so close if there will be to much port noise and make it sound like ass, plus I don't know if that will over power the interiors to much. So I'm debating about doing them sealed for better/cleaner sound. Its not a SQ car but I like my stuff to sound good, I hate cars that just make noise and not really music. Thoughts? opinions? Anyone with experience?

Let me know what you think. I have all the parts I just have to put it all in

im sure someone will move it. things to consider are both type boxes can be built to sound very accurate. ported boxes get a bad rap allot of times because most people dont build them and tune them right so they dont sound musical. ported will get you a few more db's but youlle sacrifice space, ported needing more airspace. also if your planning on doing fiberglass. its going to be allot harder to get a ported box sounding great. versus a sealed box that is allot more forgiving if your not at the exact specs.

I matched my ported box to the exact specs of my alpine type r 10. It all depends on what you want. There is a lot of speculation as people saying that with a sealed box the more clear things will sound, as where a ported it is sloppy and loud. I personally swear by ported, because like sndsgood said, if you build the box right to match the sub, it sounds badass, also clean. With the 6.5 type R components, they will sound great, if amplified. The type R's need power to sound really good. I would also think of maybe some tweeters if your worried about the sub overpowering the sound. The setup you got WILL pound hard though.

I don't see why you are running 3 subs with two different amps on them.

ported always gets my vote

so a properly ported box will sound just as good as a sealed? I know if built right they will sound good, but I personally hve never heard a built right ported box in anythign other then SPL comps, where sound quality doesn't matter. Will a proper ported box sound as good as a proper sealed box

what sounds good to you, may not sound good to the next guy. If you want loud...go ported.

^^^^True, if you build the box right, it will be loud, and have excellent sound quality. Also, if you want a challenge, then go with ported

SPL competitors usualy find higher numbers at higher tuning freq's so they get loud but sound like poo, if it has the airspace the subs want, and the port is tuned correctly (low 30s is where i would say to shoot on tuning), then SQ is going to be perfectly find, ported boxes by nature will make ur subs get louder with less power, not saying undershoot their handling, just that sealed is going to more power hungry to get loud, and will not get as loud as they could get ported

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

I just bought a 20 inch widescreen ultrasharp flat pannel..I'm going to have to subscribe to the high quality porn places now......damn
