2 channel amp question?

Quick question?

Can I run 2 rear speakers and a sub with a 2 channel amp?

Is so, can someone provide me with the wiring help.

Or should I pick up a 4 channel amp???

Theoretically yes you can. Assuming you have HPF and LPF settings on your amp, set one channel to play only mids and highs, and the other only lows. wire up the sub on the LPF side, then run speaker wire off the HPF side and use a splitter or just splice it so two sets of speaker wire are running to your rears.

Or you could get a passive crossover for the sub.

But if you have the resources to buy a 4-channel amp, why don't you just buy a monoblock for the sub?

You could assuming your amp can handle the load being placed on it by running the two speakers in parallel or series...But usually a 2 channel amp is in stereo so you'd be getting the two speakers playing either the left or right and it would sound like crap and you most likely wouldn't like it. Just go get a decent amp for the subs, and run the speakers off the 2 channel, you'll likely be much happier

you want to bump, then they will bump and hit real hard and a lot good.

If your amp is tri way compatiable you can use a tri-way crossover.

i dont kow of any other way.

You could by mixing series wiring, parallel wiring, or both. Pry have to use some sort of passive crosovers also.

I am not sure on how to wire them correctly at this moment though.

A local installer had 12 speakers running off of a Rockford Fosgate Punch 40 in one vehicle, and 13 speakers running off of another Rockford Fosgate Punch 40 in another vehicle. Just have to know how to mix the wiring.

most amps used to have 3 way mode. you would still get stero to the front speakers but your sub would be playing a full range sound so you have to use passive crossovers on the sub itself. this really isnt a great option i'd say your best bet is to get a good 4 channel amp and use it to run the system.
