ok, so i just recently bought a 1998 cavalier. I was installing my stereo, amp and subs a couple of days ago and for some reason the wires from the original radio harness confused me, but i got it all hooked up and working. I went to drive my car last night and when i turned on my headlights my left front and rear speakers shut off and all that was working was my subs and my right front and rear. could someone tell me what i did wrong behind the stereo???

I hate to say it, but you're going to have to rip the car apart and look at the whole wire for the left front speaker from the deck. It might just be worthwhile to replace it completely.
My sister's car had the same problem. It turned out that the previous owner had ripped their alarm out (violently) and as a result the left speaker wire had been exposed and was grounding out. It was a mix of fluke and hours of searching to figure that out.
