Ok I have a aftermarket Kenwood head unit, and my rear speakers are Sony Xplodes. I noticed recently my left rear speaker was not working. SO I pulled the head unit today checked the wiring. Found one connection that was nto the best but still connected. Fixed it still no worky. Pulled the rear deck out checked wiring at the speaker, everything good. I then swapped the right rear with the left rear both work. Hmmmm. I then turned the radio off and back on left rear quit working again. I swapped speakers again (while radio is still on) everything works. Once you turn off the radoi the left side does not come back on, but if you swap, or disconnect and reconnect while radio is on it works. Any ideas?

i would at first guess think head unit...
car audio noob since 1984.
I would say it is a channel in your head unit going out....
prolly on the circuitry in the head unit
if it is new... call kenwood & get the head unit replaced under warranty... if not then buy a new head unit

Ok update on this. I bought a new Kenwood head unit. Put it in and still the same problem. I guessing it is in the wiring between the radio and speakers. I'm going to run new speak wire instead of trying to track down the issue. Anyone seen this?

sounds like a possible speaker problem....you'll find out for sure when you swap speaker lines.......

Sounds right....but you might want to hook up some speakers to it first....if you have some laying around, just to test things before ripping all that wire out....
