I was just wondering what everyone is pushing their type R subs with, Want to get an idea of an amp to get.
The 600w Infinity mono block works nicely with a single R, otherwise if you're running two R's I'd go with the Alpine 1000w mono block (the PDX one is sick). I've installed both setups into different vehicles and they sound clean, no clipping/overheating/distortion that I could find (I also didn't turn it above where the sound was going through my whole body
). The setups have been running for 2 months and 4 months respectively.
I use fat chicks, and I hang a piece of sausage just out of their reach. They lunge, the sub moves, they try again. Be sure to use a waffle box.

I must not be getting them fat enough. what size you suggest?
I have been looking at the PDX amp and it seems to be good deal since its small yet effective. I was looking at the JL 1000/1 but that thing is huge. I am leaning towards the PDX though. Now where can i find a great deal? I see some on ebay for $4xx but I dont know what ebay store to buy from.
There are way better amps for the money then JL and Alpine. What coil config are the subs? What size subs?

that memphis amp was lookin good till i saw the price of almost 700 dollars on sonic electronix. wow. I have looked into the JBL ones but not completely sure about those, i have never heard anything great about JBL lately. The kicker one only has 1 set of subwoofer out doesnt it?
The memphis amp can be had for less, just need to look around ($450ish). The JBL GTO and Crown series are great amps, there are nothing wrong w/ them. I dont care for there subs besides the GTi's and i dont care for any of there other products, but there amps are nice. The kicker is a good amp also.

where is a good site to find the memphis one?
When I had my type r's I used a Viper D1200.1 Amplifier. I ran 2 of the SWR-1242D wired to 1 ohm.

Problem - the OP is using dual 2's. he's going to need either a 1/2 ohm stable amp, or a 2 ohm stable mono.
I havent found a .5ohm amp yet.. I will probably just stick to a 2 ohm amp.

They make them, but most are probably out of your price range. For example, the HK401sx is a 1/2 ohm amp, but you'd have 1800 watt rms, and you'd have to beef up your electrical.
beef up electrical as in the big 3 and a yellow top? I can do the big 3 and get a yellow top no problem.... too bad i cant use the yellow tops they run in fighter jets...talk about DEEP cycle haha
beef up as in higher output alternator
or run a hifonics brutus bxi-1606d at one ohm
well i dont know how much bigger for an alternator i can go in the vehicle Im building for

he cant. He was dual 2 subs.
Just buy an amp that does power @ 2 ohms. Personaly i have ran alot of amps at .5 and even lower but for the average Joe thats pretty new to audio, i wouldnt recommend it. Its also gonna take alot less electrical upgrades to run amp at 2 ohms compaired to .5. There are very few that are "rated" to run .5 but there are a bunch that will run .5 np.

i was pointed in the direction of the JBL GTO1401.1 amp or the 1201.1 amp (which is discontinued). I would like an amp that puts like 600 rms watts to each sub at 2ohms if possible.
man i went stupid on that one
i could do that hifonics amp if i planned on running 1 amp per sub.. but that would put way more power to the subs than it can handle i think haha
So I figure i need something that runs roughly1200 watts RMS (600w x 2 @ 2ohms) I know the PDX one does something like 500 x 2. but i would like something with a bass knob too so i can turn it down quickly without having to go thru the options in the alpine deck (9886) to turn the subs down.
