Going by my calculations those subs need MAJOR air space and can be tuned down lowwwwwwwwww. The box frequency should be nearly 20 hz (again, by the formulas I have) but seeing as you want to use two subs, I believe you are going to sacrifice some of your low end frequency. Your cut-off frequency of -3db will be right about 30hz using two of those subs in roughly 5.5 cubic feet, versus a single sub in 5.5 cubic feet with a cutoff frequency of about 22hz. You should expect EXCELLENT loudness in the 50-100hz range however with the two subs, somewhere near +4-5db.
All in all, I think you'd be well suited with 5.5 cubic feet with a box frequency of 20hz, you'll have great bass down to about 30hz that will vibrate your insides, lol. The formulas I used can be found in "The Car Stereo Cookbook" by Mark Rumreich, I found it at Barnes and Nobles like 8 years ago, but they now have a second volume out now. The same equations and graphs can be found in both books, highly recommend picking it up!
didnt you just buy new subs like 2 months ago lol?

thanks for teh info 86svo, but to me it seems like tuning it to 20htz is so low.... do people actually go that low? lol

very nice subs. rockford wins.
okay so you like to change out the subs often, and the amp to sub configuration sounds pretty solid.
but 20 hz is the lowest that humans can hear, and yes that is low. the lowest ive heard anyone go was 22 hz but that sounded low to me even.

im guessing it would rattle ur insides? lol but will it still sound good? i dont think ive ever heard a setup tuned lower than 30htz
i hate this trunk!!! @!#$ lumina! lol the bottom of the trunk is like 38" wide but when it comes up to hte top of the struts i can only go 34" wide which is screwing with the space that i need for my port.... best i can come up with is this box thats tuned to 23.8hz
any suggestions? how would it sound of the subs where installed on the top of teh box(firing into the sky) and the port in the front?? i really wanna go ported with this install

i just thought of something, i can put a 3" port in the middle of the subs and still ahve space to mount the subs jsut barely... 15.5"(sub)+3"(port)+15.5"(sub2)=34"s wide, but that only bumps me upto 27.37Hz, i wonder if i should go with 2 round ports??? RF says 2.5cubes per sub with two 4"X8" circle port will be 35Hz

tuning that low is absolutely not needed. you dont hear that low anyways nor will you find any music that plays that low. a good rule of thumb for a daily driven box is 35 hz. some tune a bit lower some a bit higher. I tend to stick to that.
i dont want to tune that low its just im limited with what i can do cause of the size of my trunk.... i might just go with the round ports tuned to 35hz

round ports...

I should mention, be careful with the REaudio box builder, I have seen a couple people who say the builder spits out incorrect dimensions.

^^ i ended up going with round ports... was the only way i could get above 27hz

ports are 4.5" OD and 4" ID
subs with some of my 8gauge "speaker" wire lol
i hope it fits!
installed pics later... gotta find away to carry it to the car by myself haha

I used to have 2 15" fosgates in the back of my cavy. They were in a sealed box that was just big enough to fit in the trunk opening (still needing a lil' help.) It pounded and I only had a 1200 watt boss hooked up to it. I now moved up to a JL 13w7 in the prowedge box and Jl 1000 mono amp pushing it. Now I have trunk space (Future place for my air ride)
. Check out my old and new system at
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2399170. Sorry, didn't mean to Thread Jack. Hope yours fits and believe me, they will sound great. Good luck.
sad sad night..... she didnt fit and 1 of those stupid bars that holds the trunk up popped out and i cant get it back in
grinder comes out tommorow after work

FINALLY there all the way in the trunk! went to my dads house and was looking around the garage and shed to see what i could do to shave my box... saw teh table saw but that seemed like to much work lol found a wood planer and i went at for awhile... now the box is to small and slides around
haha
5.66 cubes and still a fair bit of space for ****
this is where i had my issues with fitment
and a little video, for some reason it doesnt look like they move that much with this song :S ill try another 1 later.... rear deck bounces around like crazy, front dash defroster vent bounces, cds fall out of my sunvisor, anything sitting on the front bench seat ends up on the floor haha ohh and it rattles like a bitch! lol gonna see if i can tighten the tailights, put some foam on back of plate etc etc
FDP 62MM TB, FFP Performance Chip, FFP Underdrive Pully, WAI, Hi Flow Cat, 2.5" Catback, Functional Ram Air Hood, Centerforce Dual Friction Clutch
if you slow that video down, it actually has pretty good excursion, you just cant see it cuz its at a high enough frequency that its almost not visible to the naked eye

do you just have car audio goodies laying all around your house. wtf if you get tired of any of it just send it my way ill give it a good home in my cav. nice install and that is a good song choice for some bass. a song that is nice and low and makes my 1 jl 12w3 hit pretty hard is crossroads by bone thugs.
how many volts that inline driver puts out? nice setup im sure it pounds......
