simple question:
when i fade my sound to the front using my headunit (i have 6.5s up front powered by an alpine amp, and 6x9 @!#$ters in the back just powered by the HU) it makes the sub "fade" to the front also.. it gets quieter...
is there a way to fix this other than just not fading it? i think it sounds better only coming out of the front speakers... as it should since they were like 10 times as much money lol.
if not no big deal ill just leave it unfaded, its not like it sounds horrible that way
If it sounds better coming from the front only why dont you just disconnect the 6x9s that would solve your problem entirely the sub signal is ran off the rear signal thats why when you fade to the front it gets dimmer.
i dont fade it 100% to the front. just about half..
the people in the backseat like to hear the words too
is there a way to run the sub off the front signal? would that be a bad idea?
if you have a decent set of fronts with enough power going to them, there shouldn't be any issues. AND if there is an issue, screw them, it's your music and your car they are getting a free ride.

exactly lol, you could run the sub off the front signal but you are bypassing the dedicated sub signal from your deck if your fronts are amplified you could use the output from the high amp to the sub amp or you could just scrape up some cash and buy some good niners

It sounds like too me that you have the RCA's plugged into the rear speaker output instead of the Subwoofer output on the back of the radio. Unless your alpine doesn't have the sub output, then if thats the case hook it up to the front rca output as stated above.

x2, i was thinkin the same thing check the rca's on the back of the radio

the rca's are in the sub outs im pretty sure, ill check it.
if they ARE plugged into the SW rcas there is another thing to check.
Do you have a kicker amp? If so they have a button called "fader" I think, that I lovingly call the "piss me off button" is does exactly what you're describing.
Even if you don't have kicker look for any odd buttons on the amp that might be pushed in.
One downside of possibly plugging the RCAs into the Front inputs, is the high pass crossover will cut out anything that you actually playing to the subwoofers.
