so i blew a 40 amp fuse a 60 and yesterday an 80 with my kicker zx 1500.1....what do i do now????
You need at least a 125amp fuse and 1/0 wire for that amp.
I dont know why kicker has a 100amp fuse with it. there is no way that amp is going to put out 1500w with a 100amp fuse
thanks man...i thought i just wired something wrong...cuz i blew the 80 yesterday an hour after putting it in...yea i dont know either?? im using 4 gauge wire though cuz thats what it recommended...is it still ok to get a 125 amp fuse???
125amps through 4 gauge is pushing it.
I MIGHT use 4 gauge for 125 amps if it was real 4 gauge not some 8 gauge with a thick jacket.
the wiring i have is for amps that push up to 1600 watts....do you think a 100 amp fuse would be ok?
so im still blowing fuses...im so confused and y doesnt kicker amps have fuses...all i have is the fuse on the power wire? it blew a 80 amp fuse in an hour. something has to be wired wrong doesnt it? but i had 2 pros install it who knew wat they were doing
make sure none of your wires are touching anything metal
pro's aren't always pros
they could just be some guy that watched an instructional video and took a test
are you pulling a load on the amp? i have a 1500W hifonics and i have a 70amp fuse pulling around 700 watts from the amp.
if all else fails, buy the biggest fuse you can find. if it blows, check your wiring, and is streetfire said, check for accidental grounds.
There's a thin line to be crossed, when the upgrades to your vehicle increase your chance to get tickets by an amount exponential enough to stop worrying and build the fastest, loudest car you can.
I have a 2500.1 amp.. and i have 1/0 Awg wire, with a 250 A fuse.. there's no way im blowing that beast
i cant figure out what it is... all the wiring seems fine..the amp is grounded...the only thing i could possibly think is wrong is that when i had my old system, i grounded the amp to the bottom of my chair where it bolts to the floor and when i took the system out i couldnt get the bolt up so i just cut the wire to where you couldnt see it so its just a wire attached to a bolt, but i doubt that is whats causing it. today i changed my fuse holder from an agu one to a regular in line fuse and put a 100 watt fuse in and it blew it in like 5 minutes when i turned on a song with a lot of bass...and when i turn my bass up real loud it sounds bad like it doesnt even go along with the song right. but that might be because i have the subs in 2 tiny separate boxes and i had to buy trim rings for them to fit...but they sound pretty good with some songs if i could just get them to stay on without blowing a fuse and my old fuse holder looks like it got melted by the current... nothing is going right with this new system!!! i put a new 100 watt fuse in and just barely turned up the bass knob
change your ground. Take out your back seat, theres a bolt directly in the centre on the "Hump" that's a perfect spot for the ground!
