Ok, so I was wanting to put a system in my 97 cavi RS 2 door. I know I will most likely have to build a wall to fit it. I want 4 MTX 7500 12s and 4 MTX 5500 12s. I want them all in bandpass boxes. My question is, do you guys think I can fit 8 12s in a wall? Ive seen 4, but never 8. Thanks.

well, first opinion....
mtx=crap. don't waste your money on that. invest it wisely, something you will be happy with and last.
i highly doubt 8 12"s would fit. you can get 2 15"s that will be just as loud if not louder....EASILY. do some research then come back. or ask.....
i also wouldnt mix subs.....i would just go for 4 9500s (if you wanted to stay with mtx) or maybe try RE audio there subs are really good. Also what kinda amps are you gonna be running? and how many batterys? and whats your price range? given that info maybe i could suggest some subs! (and i would'nt go for 8 12" subs either not enough space for a decent box)
RE audio. Definitely worth a look
The elemental designs' aV sub looks like it throws around a lot of air too.
8-12s would fit in a clamshell (sealed, possibly ported depending on space requirements). But with the small size of our cars, you're facing a space issue. ESPECIALLY if you plan on going bandpass. Do you know what a bandpass enclosure is? You'll have enough space trouble with a ported alignment.

he want's to mix 2 different lines of subs, and cram 8 12's in his car come hell or high water..... believe me when I say that I am willing to bet money he doesn't know what a real bandpass enclosure is or does.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Hmmm, I missed the mention of two different models in his post.
If you don't know what you're doing, don't even pretend to bother trying to fit 8 of anything in your car. Start with 2 and work your way up...

Well, I know, your not supposed to mix brands/series, different frequencys they operate at and they will cancel out. Anyway, my friend has 4 MTX 9500s in slot ported boxes in a beretta and it slams, 9500s are just too damn expencive for me. My friend used to have 4 7500 12s in the trunk of a 00 cavi, and it was loud, but not loud enough. How many 5500 12s or 7500 12s do you think it would take to match my friends 4 9500 12s? The amps I have a hifonics, im just looking for some subs that are cheap and can pound just as hard oroutpound the 4 95s

The real question is. How long do you want them to last?
you should try out the RE audio MX15 they slam pretty hard. i'd get just 2 of those inna wall inna ported enclosure, just run 3000 to 4000 watts RMS and your bangin!!! they run about 500-600 on ebay....i know there expensive but if you are planning to put 8 12s in a wall you gotta have some money!!!
not really 8 comp vrs 125 a piece 1000
two brutus 2006 300 ish 600
wiring 150 ish
wood and materials 100ish
alt 500
batts 125 a piece. 250
2100 on stock alternator.
hmmm
honest to god know i could fit 8 12s in a cavalier. its really not that hard to do. would i do a bandpass. hell no. too many variables. Hell I had planned to do four 15s in a flat wall for the longest time. It can be done. takes building in the car and a little imagination around the back deck area but you really should not have to extend too far in the trunk.
question is WHY?
i know a guy near me that had 8 12"s in his cavi 2 door. Hit 151 on the TL
Replaced the subs instead and walled in two rf power t1's or t2's and hit the same db number
so just go with two 15" subs or 2 twelves and keep the space
and i can bet money i can make it louder than a 151 too. not all of it is about the number though. if you have ever seen randy kubeks asstro van then youd understand. it will do a 155 ish but anyone who has seen it will all vouch that it is the most impressive display of sheer brutality this side of tommy mckinney or steve mick. .
first off lets see if his electrical can even handle the load.
and whats the 4db difference matter when you are going to spend that much. I'd call it a day and get 2 15"s instead of wasting your money. You're not going to want a wall always, room is nice to have.
I don't think you're going to get anywhere by just adding more and more subs. I had someone throw a figure at me before (this is why I got my 15). Adding another 12 to an existing single twelve will only net you something like a 5 db gain or something like that I cant remember exactly. Just get some high quality stuff like re audio or whatever. Quality over Quantity ftw.

Randy with the 30 10's ??
I love that thing :boner: 22mph wind out the windows is sick.
I liked his ford truck, he said that thing peaked at 18hz B---------------------D~~~~~~~~~
And im all about groundpounding too i dont see the point of having all the equipment that cant play music and sound good.
Ok... pretty much im looking for something that will outpound my friends 4 9500 12s. He has them in sledgehammer boxes with a 5000 watt hifonics amplifier. Right now all I have is an american bass VL 12 in a bandpass box, 4.95 cubic foot, 6 1/2" port, on a 1600 watt pyramid amplifier, bridged with an Alpine 9 band EQ. I was looking at some older orion HCCAs. Does anyone know if they are any good? If not, what sub would you recommend that is fairly cheap, yet could outpound the 9500? Thanks.

I was also looking at the Power Acoustik "MOFO" 15s. From the reviews I have read people seem to like them fairly well, and they are pretty cheap... I thought Power Acoustik was down there in car audio though, so not too sure...

You seem like another "I want a ton but want it to cost 3 cents and a pack of airline peanuts". Not wasting my time. You don't seem to be able to afford decent stuff, but want something spectacular.
On the other hand....you have other fingers.

Mofos sound like ass. They're muddy. Imagine smacking a dead armadillo with a wiffle ball bat. That's the kind of sound you're going to get out of it.
My suggestion? 2 Lanzar Opti 1232d's in a ported box with an Opti 2000d. They like small boxes, so you won't lose a ton of space. You're going to have to beef up your electrical system too, and manditory 1/0 run to the back.
So we got :
350 for subs
400 for amp
350 for alternator
200 for battery
100 for wiring, distro blocks, fuses, n'at
75 for box and goodies
Start saving.
I haven't metered my 15's yet, but they are easily louder than my friend's three comp 12's, and those metered at 146-148. You'll have enough punch to rattle your eyeballs, but not that much actual volume.
8 12's in a cav... Why not buy a blazer where you won't have to battle for space? =P
There's a thin line to be crossed, when the upgrades to your vehicle increase your chance to get tickets by an amount exponential enough to stop worrying and build the fastest, loudest car you can.
i was checkin out the mofos and passed it up and got me a alpine type R. one kick ass sub! if your wanting to out pound 4 12s think about the air space you need for the speaker and how much your willing to spend. like i said i have a single 15 type r with a 1200 power acoustik amp. witch i'm about to up grade that to a 1800 watt amp. and add more juice. i just went to a sound off and did 141db witch it was my first time compeating and only did it one time. i'm shure i could of did better than i did. Still won though. mine is not walled off. i have a vented box and the trunk is wraped so no rattle. I have had two 15s jl w0 in my 00 cavy at one time and it rattled my buddys morror off when i was behind him.. NOT Bull @!#$tin no one! a buddy at the time had 4 12s in his cavy. hit like @!#$. no air space cause it was in the trunk. not walled off.. nothing. home made box. didnt even come close to my two 15s. had another buddy with 3 12s in a closed box and it did out hit my 2 15s. but i was only runnin a 500 watt amp. but this single 15 hits just as hard if not harder. Also have the biggest box that will even get into a cavy. had to take the back seat out and go though that way. also had to put the speaker in while my box was in the trunk. talk about a bitch! but it was well worth it. ive done it all myself and out pounded what the auto places did for people at the show. not bad for a rookie at compeating. i have a picture as you already have probly looked at..
