Alright, so I have a 2002 Sunfire base model, manual everything pretty much. I have a gps and a 12v 1 to 3 socket adapter so that I can plug In 2 neon lights and have 1 spare. Both of my 12V sockets, give constant power, no matter if the car is on, or off or in auxiliary or not...no matter what they're always hot. So my question...are our cars just like this? I know most cars aren't always on like this.
Also, underneath my dash whoever had the car before me rigged up some type of harness for remote entry because I can see the wiring for actuators and the wiring is a mess tucked up underneath there. Also when I bought the car the jack ass that had the remote less entry done or installed himself took the module, so I just have wiring with a relay and a whole bunch of other mess tucked up there. thanks ahead of time..
I don't know what you're getting at but yes my car is the same way. I'm assuming all j-bodies are like this. And I know of a lot of other cars that are the same way.
what im saying is...
are all jbodies 12v or cigarette lighter always on, even if the car is on or off?
and you said yours is the same..so I'm assuming my car hasn't had anything done to it from the past owner(s).
Mines like that.
Most of the ones that are used as a "Power Outlet" rather than a cig lighter are off with the car. Dont want to have to turn your car on to light a cig right?
mine are always on too i hate them when they turn off cause i use it to charge my cell phon eand when it shuts off it obviously stops charging
i think my equinox front 1 turns off i can't remember the rear 2 i know they stay on front i'm unsure. all js stay on

you can change it very easily if you want them off theres an orange wire that goes to the fuse panel (battery positive is what they call it) cut that and spice it from the cig lighter to a pink wire (IGNITION POSITIVE) then tape off the other end, depending hte year of car you might be bale to pull the fuse i think it was my 97 GT that if the cig fuse blew you lost the horn so check that

Ah ok! thanks guys, Ill have to look into that fuse panel. It would just be more convenient to have my accessories come on with ignition because right now I have to switch everything on and off when I get in and out of the car, which isn't hard but itd be nicer just to turn the key to turn things on and off.

Depending the year of car you might be able to pull the fuse. I think it was my 97 GT that if the cig fuse blew you lost the horn, so check that.
Fixed for clarification, spelling, and fire hazard.
