Has anyone tried putting speakers right on the door plastic instead of putting them inside the door? I have a nice set of Pioneer 6x8's lying around and this seems like an easy way to upgrade my front speakers. What do you think?
I dont think it would look to good. and oval speakers are the devil
No, but I have seen and heard it several times this summer.
RATTLE RATTLE RATTLE
It also looks terrible, as good as your intentions may be.
It makes baby jesus cry. Please don't. Get a set of 6 1/2 components so I don't have to punch you in the junk.
Guys, i don't wanna spend 200$ on my front speakers. I wanna either fit these babies in or leave it as is. And i actualy think it's gonna look nice so that's an issue... I guess what i really wanted to know is if it was gonna rattle alot or not that much... the speakers arent going to be amped...
if it rattles just dynamat, phatmat, ED, whatever. thats really not hard to fix. if you think itl look good go for it. its up to you.

I'm not sure what any of these means... could you enlighten me? I'm looking to do the job right. Thanks!
BTW, i hope your signature is your car because it's @!#$ hot. Just perfect.
In this situation it means nothing, you're going to have rattles no matter what if you do it that way.
phatmat, dynamat, ed's sound deadener. they are all deadeners that reduce rattles. i had 6.5 components in my doors with no rattling. i love the people that have never actually tried something buck up and say its gonna rattle. it wont rattle if you matt the back of the panel and then do the door itself. youll be fine
as for my car. yes it is. but. its changed a hell of alot since that photo. so.
You had speakers IN the door, he's inquiring about putting them ON the door.
Trust me, it'll rattle. And yes, I HAVE done this before, which is why I'm so adament toward preventing others from making that mistake.
Well now i don't know what to think haha
Wojo, did you screw your 6.5's right on the plastic door?
Dave i'd think twice about screwin them to the door and the reason being that if you ever wanna sell the car OR trade it in you have to 1. Take a small deduction in price for there bein 2 giant ass holes in the doors or 2. leave the Pioneers in it so you dont have to deal with number 1. Use to be a big fan of customizing every lil project but then realized that when it came time to part ways with the car, id have a bunch of holes everywhere lol. Id recommend if anything take the door plastic off and THEN bolt them right to the metal door frame and put the plastic back on, atleast that way you dont have to deal with any unsightly holes later.
144db@38hz! It hurts so good !
yes i did screw them to the PLASTIC DOOR PANEL. and i had NOOOO rattling whatsoever. you really should make a wood baffle for the rear to screw in to tho
What kind of speakers? High passed?
Obviously I'm surprised.
The worse spot for me was where the door meets the dash.
Just because you have something doesn't mean it needs to be installed. I have a set of Legacy 8" woofers, does that mean they need to be installed in my car?

yes
I'll then need to find a spot for those Kracos you sent me.
Point well taken Brent. But i have another set of door pannels lying around... this isn't my first cavy
Lanman, yes, install them... NOW lol
Wojo, the wood baffle is a very good idea.
I put 6.5's on my doors yesturday and no rattle whats so ever. Doesnt look bad either.
that actually is surprisingly nice, i personally woulda gone for a C/F panel to mount em on tho, not sure on that thing :p looks good tho well done

Thanks. I ran out of the original material I was using (got it for free) so had to improvise with some stuff I had laying around. Its a DD that the women will be driving the majority of the time. So not to worried about it. Came out better then I thought.

What's the point in mounting them on the outside of the panel? My 6 1/2's have bigger magnets than some of your subwoofers, yet mine fit (with a little cutting of the door of course) behind the sunfire door panel.
