blown sub?

so i have 2 memphis shallow mount subs. i have a memphis pr 1000.1 amp that is wired down to 1 ohm and is 1 ohm stable. i have had them hooked up for about 6 months now and they have been great. they are in 2 separate boxes in my truck. today i was driving and the one behind the drivers seat stopped playing. the other sub was still hitting but the one behind the drivers seat was barely vibrating at all. so i got home and checked all of the sub wiring and couldnt find anything wrong. i dont think the sub is blown but i dont see where any wiring issue occured and the sub is still vibrating, just not playing like it should! what could be causing this????

Wow, welcome back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! God I missed you. Anyways, clipping will cook subs, overexcursion will also cook subs. Did you meter the resistance of the coils?

Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.

no i haven't done that yet, i just checked the wiring first since the sub went out at a low volume. but i had the gains set right and haven't changed anything and never have the volume past 3/4 so i don't know how i could have been clipping. why would one fry and not the other if its really fried but im going to check the resistance next.

There are more than 1 way to disable a sub, and more than 1 symptom.........

On the other hand....you have other fingers.

I have the unique ability of being able to keep it real while simultaneously taking it to the next level.

I didnt say that was the only way. Im just saying thats one symptom. All of the dead subs Ive messed with were crunchy.

Are they DVC?

May have bottomed them out and seperated the tinsel leads.

Take the bitches and and look.

the go from the voice coil to the terminals you hook your speaker wires to. They will either be hovering above the spider, woven through the spider, or sewn to the spider.
