Mounting kit???
Friday, July 30, 2010 12:53 PM
I want to install an aftermarket HU into a 2001 Mercedes ML 320. I can't find a cover or mounting bracket that will cover up the hole around the aftermarket deck because the original radio is a giant square one. does anyone know where i can find a bracket????

are you looking for a bracket to hold the radio in place, or a cover to keep the look clean or both? for brackets, i usually just use a piece of steel and cut it and drill it to shape. allot more secure and sturdy then most of the plastic kits on the market, for a faceplate you can use whatever you want, abs plasitc, or metal, or plexiglass or wood or whatever you can think up.

both. and ok that sounds good...i have another question... I am putting 2 15 inch kicker L5s in the ML 320 with a hifonics 1500 watt amp...I am putting a custom ported box in there that is really nice! I am obviously going to use 0 gauge wire. I feel like for 1500 watts, I will need a bigger battery so I don't murder my alternator which is a stock mercedes alternator from 2001. But when I look up yellow top optima batteries for cars, the mercedes ML 320 isn't even listed as one that a optima fits in. Is there a way around this because I feel as though I will need it because I can't afford to buy a new alternator while im in school! I will also probably do the big 3 regardless if i get the battery or not but id still like to have it to help with dimming and stuff..
