Hi, I have a 2000 z24 with the factory radio with cd player. I want to swap it out with on the the radios with the auto volume and all the other features. Half the lights are out on my radio. I was going to buy one from the junkyard for $10. What is all involved? I read that topic with all the things required to do the swap but it didn't make sense. My friend said he swapped his in his sunfire 2002 and didn't have to put a code in. It worked right way. Can anyone confirm this. I just do not want to waste money on my daily driver.

Anyone?

Have to put the code in, radio is programmed to the BCM, dealer has to unlock it.
I'm doing a swap now and i've wasted $60 unlocking a broken RDS cd player from a 2003 ls sport (cd part didn't work) now i have to try again with a different deck. all i can say is make sure it works first some how.
How much did it cost to unlock it? Does anyone know if the auto volume will work or not? I saw at the junkyard some cars had two plugs in the radio and some only used 1. The radios all had two plugs. Just wondering what the difference is.
