Curiosity struck (more like just wanted to be a dumba**) and i wired my mtx ts55-12's dual 2 ohm coil to separate channels (one channel per coil) on an SSL EVO 1000.2 thats 500rms per coil (500rms @ 2ohms) on a wooder made to take 600rms TOTAL. It thumps like a champ tho and shows no signs of giving out after a month of constant abuse. But just curious. How big of an idiot am i for doing this? (dont really care about the woofer. i got it for 50$ so im not crying if it pops)
should be fine. you can usually double the rating on the woofer. if you don't care about it then why would you be an idiot?
Just listen and adjust ur gains according to distortion. Rms power is rated for constant use as peak power is made to only handle full power briefly. Most subs do in theory handle twice as much power as rms so u should be fine
