Eco Charger finally dyno'ed
Sunday, July 23, 2006 7:04 PM
While I was at the car show this weekend I got my car dyno'ed. It dyno'ed at 220 at the wheels with 190 foot pounds of torque, all I have done to the car is 2.5 inch cat back exhaust, cold air intake and the intercooler. Is this a good number or should my car have done better, any suggestions or comments will be great, Thanks Josh

Thats about right compared to airtonics run last fall, though his torque number was a little bit better, course he was running OEM exhaust as well.....

i'd say that's pretty damn good...

220 at the wheels is a pretty good increase over the factory 140 bhp.

I was under the impression that the GMPP supercharger put the cars up to ~200whp.

You got 220, Airtonics got around that....did I miss something?

intercooler makes alot of added hp

since GM rated it with out the intercooler hooked up

Does the eco charger come with the intercooler or do you have to buy it separate?

damn ... go to smaller pulleys and a few more engine upgrades and i can see these things makeing 250whp... very! nice if only GM thought it threw and put an intercooler option on the 2.4L ones

kind of scary? why would GM make a direct bolt on kit that would blow your engine ??? they make these kits as a factory like unit so you have to do nothing else but bolt it on and go... im sure if you really pushed it and got all the other engine modifications on you could probably come closer to 300whp then 250... but i dont see these making 300hp

Id say 300 would work if you build everything up. It would cost just like any other gains do.

300 is doable when measured at the crank, please realize that at 10 psi, the M62 is pulling about 27-30 HP parasitic from the crank itself, plus the parasitic from normal belt driven accessories, and what you loose through the transmission you are close to 300 if you are putting dwon 250HP at the wheel.

It is also about ease of driveablility, and maintaining your fuel economy, the reflash does amazing things. I have the GM kit and can pull upwards to 360-400 miles from a tank with a combo driving schedule, almost what I was getting NA ( as long as I drive fairly sane). A frined of mine has the reflash on his Saab turbo car and it is getting about the same.

GM might have done a better job making the re-flash on this car but im sure if you could get somthing like HP tuners on it you could finly tune it even better

I really need to intercool my setup especially after seeing numbers like this. Time for a new job, lol.

You COULD.... Had GM not locked the calibration.... You'd have to start from a factory tune if you wanted to do any fine tuning with HPT.

Yes for the ECos it is locked, and Chris @ HPT says he wont be able to do anythign about it for a while if its even possible. Thats hte one thing keeping me from GM reflashing my car for boost, I want HPT!

great numbers ! I'll be getting header, exhaust and intercooler too... can,t wait to see the gains...

Thats awesome numbers! At NOPI nationals there was a dyno and a SC cobalt SS dynoed 212 at the wheels so you are making more power and less weight than the stock SS.

I wish the 2.4 GM SC did near that, I hate my car lol. And my car is tuned with HPT and a whole boat load of mods.
