Mods please be cool about this because this is a last resort . If I cant turn to the boost forum who can I turn to? I have done my share for the j body community and dont see why this little thread should be a problem. Thankyou in advance... Looking for and extra 2.4 for boost build up. Dont say check the classifieds because I did and there is nothing close to me or in my price range. I called the yards in and around Chicagoland and have found nothing. So if anybody from the Wisconsin or JBOM or Chi town have an extra 2.4 motor please help. Preferably a 2000+ without egr style head. Spun Rod bearing is fine . Does not need to be running but definetely not destroyed. Again thankyou.

the head doesn't matter if it has the EGR deal or not. Just make sure you're using a newer style exhaust manifold gasket that does not have the EGR provision. the newer ones will not have the extra hole on the gasket for EGR.

i know its not where you want one from but i have a rebuildable 97 2.4 that you can have free if you pick it up in Richmond VA. its got broken ring lands and no oil pan.

You guys in Chi-town have it rough I got my spare running 2.4 from a local wrecking yard complete for $577 and they delivered it to the machine shop for free!

sensor are all the same locations , and no problems there
the heads all have the egr ports , some say that some didnt go all the way through , but ive yet to see 1 that was blocked , all ive seen go all the way through
the difference is the combustion chamber volume and shape , which is better no one really knows

yea I know....i can get some motors for 150 easy
but its hard to come by 2.4L's, 00+ ive never seen any in the yard, 96-99 ive seen a couple....

i just yanked a 01 2200 this weekend for a buddys car im workin on. they are out there just hafta regular the pick n pull yards and grab up the deals when ya see em not just when ya need em. i can get the later 2200's 2.4's and ecotec's if any of you guys want em.
