I currently own a 2.2L OHV and been looking through countless site for a turbo setup for my ride. Result are in, and I have found everything from maximumboost to Hahn. From your experience and knowledge, which would you say is a great turbo company for my ride. It doesn't matter the price. I just want to know whats the best name brand to go with and why.
Thanks!
Well.....for starters i would look into what others think or have experinced with maximum boost. Hahn makes a quality product. J-tuners is no longer in business......which leaves you with little to no choice. Most people simpily gather what parts they need and put their own kits together, this way you get exactly what you want.
maximumboost is a joke. just search for maximumboost and you'll find quite a few threads about that load of crap. definitely go with hahn. i've never heard anything bad about them or their kits. i'm sure hypsy will chime in as well as a few other people with hahn setups. they put down rediculously good numbers and the parts are top notch.
I would never buy a kit. It's insanely expensive and a lot of the kits are missing items I feel are essential to an N/A to Turbo swap like low compression forged pistons and heavy duty connecting rods. Besides, if I'm spending thousands of dollars I want more than just 5psi of boost.
I looked at Hahn and they seem like a quality company. I agree with alias. Any company that lets you "build your own" is one that has confidence in it's products.
hahn would be the way to go if you don't feel like learning a whole @!#$ load about how everything works and what you need. It puts down decent numbers and is a very reputable company. maximum boost will not give you everything you need.
Thanks for the info guys. I appreciate it. Hahn it is. If you guys have any more opinions on kits please reply. Thanks again.

The 2200 is already 9.0:1, why go lower? Also, the stock internals can take 250whp with a good tune, about 15psi on a decent turbo.
If you're going with Hahn, here's a few things to add to your list so that you can make some decent power:
Stage II (intercooled)
.030" Cometic headgasket
ARP headstuds
HPTuners
WB O2
larger injectors
afpr

Thanks. But heres a question. And this may sound kinda noobish but whats a WB 02 and a AFPR? One more thing. What size injectors should i go for that will give me decent power? Thanks again
Any injectors over about 350cc (~32lbs) will be fine for stock internals, just don't go over about 780cc or it'll be harder to tune your idle.
WB O2 = wideband oxygen sensor/controller. Check out the Innovate LM-1 units
AFPR is adjustable fuel pressure regulator. It's not necessary, but will be helpful with tuning your idle on larger injectors. I believe the units made for LT1 Corvettes basically bolt right up to the 2200 rail, run a search to be sure though.

Great Help dude. What setup are you running?
Where can you get a .030" Cometic headgasket?
if price does noy matter then do everything custom.. go to a machine shop and have them make you a equal length manifold.
have everything custom one off..
horsepower is how hard you hit the wall, Torque is how far you push the wall with you
notec, did arp finally come out with the headstuds for the 2.2? i was reading the thread about them but i didnt see where anyone had finally come out and said they got them and installed them

I'll be running the 450cc injectors out of my DSM once I put the 850cc in it. You won't be able to use these on your '00 ECU though as the drivers most likely won't be able to handle the current. You need some saturated injectors, check out ebay for more than you could imagine.

I got my Cometic though Hypsy here on the org.

I've had mine for a while now, but haven't got around to the top end (main studs work fine though). However, since I know there are people waiting on me for a few things, I went out and checked. I stuck in one long stud and one short stud, and slapped on a '96 head. The studs were measured for the 2200, but it looks like there won't be a problem using them on a 2.2L. They only hint of danger I saw was that the long studs were slightly longer than stock, so if you are using wide-bodied rockers there may be a interference issue, but only with short pushrods. I bolted up some ProForm rockers (pretty wide) and it looked like they'll be alright as long as you don't use rediculously short pushrods (at that point you'll have problems from the lateral force on the valve tip anyway).
Anyone needing ARP part numbers can find them AT THE END of the rocker adjustment thread (used to be a sticky, but I'm thinking it got demoted).

Basically for the LN2 you either have custom or HRC.
Let me know if you need any HRC parts. I'll hook you up good.
I used to race cars, now I race myself.
