project car

Ok..First off i have a 04 sunfire 2.2 ecotec automatic transmission....it is a project car as of the moment and is not going to be a everyday driver...On the other hand i am 18 years old and a little inexperienced...i have worked on other car/trucks but mostly trucks, i have installed a custom turbo on a friend of mines V6-F150, but yes still inexperienced... so cut me some slack when it gets to technicality, im just looking for some help in my endeavors...i have searched for a turbo kit for my car and have had no luck i know that the cavi and other cars have the same 2.2 ecotec and most parts are interchangeable between the cars...does anyone know of a turbo set up???or is building my own set up the only way???One other thing is that the car is now a project car because my mother drove it though a puddle and it stalled, it has an AEM CAI so that was the reason, but no worries i think lol, i shot the water out of the engine though the spark plugs, later changed the starter, spark plugs and battery, and have had no problems with it since...im am open to suggestions, ideas, and even criticism...one last thing if someone lives in the south florida area and is interested in moding that would be great.........

If you are gonna turbocharge it, you are doing the same thing as me... i have a 2005 Sunfire auto also...

I am in the progress of my turbo project for my car... I am making a CUSTOM turbo setup, its alot cheaper and you know what you have under the hood, and you can control what you have, not what the turbo kit is included...

This is the list of stuff im buying:

-Turbonetics T3/T4 Turbo (internal Wastegated) - $500
-HKS SSQV BOV - $200
-JDM Intercooler - $100
-Ebay Turbo exhaust manifold, but im going to get it coated by Jet-Hot 2000 and they garrunttee that it wont crack and the coating will increase HP & TQ - $210 for the manifold, $250 for the coating, yes the coating cost more then the manifold, because it is a GOOD, QUALITY coating and they garranttee that it wont crack or break...
-Bosch Green Tops Injectors, 440cc - $220
-NGK 1-step colder spark plugs - $40
-Ford Injector harnesses - $40
-Walbro 255 High pressure Pump Kit - $140
-AEM Wideband gauge type controller w/ sensor - $265
-Boost gauge & oil pressure gauge - $100
-HPTuner - $650
-Oil Lines & fittings - $100
-Aluminum Piping with silicone couplers and T-clamps from Ebay - $200

This list should be almost everything you need to buy if you want to setup a custom turbo kit and tune it yourself, but if you dont wanna tune it yourself, then you can save the $650 from the HPTuner and have it dyno tuned, but i think its better to tune it yoruself...

If you add everything up, its about $3000 and that cost less then a Hahn Racecraft Stage 2 turbo kit...

Im not saying the Hahn turbo kit is bad or anything, ppl that bought the Hahn stage 2 turbo kit had yield GREAT results, and it is customized for a manual 2003-2005 ecotec JBody, but with little customize on the piping, it should fit on our autos, but im just doing mine all custom and im just showing you what i bought...

I am looking to see about 220-250 whp with 8 PSI's of boost with what i have listed above... I bought a set of Diamond Racing Forged Pistons also, only cuz i got a great deal on it... But once i save up another $1000-2000 then i will buy forged engine internals and i will build up my ecotec to handle about 400 whp...

But with what i listed above, if you buy them or something that is equivilant to them, and since its not a daily driver, you can remove weight in the car and you can probably do low 12's... or maybe even 11's...

Well for me the internals have to be changed because just because the car is running fine since the little misshap with my running in the puddle and it stalling out...it took me 3 days to get it running so im still a little worried and plan on getting new pistons, head, and all the other accessories that go with it....so we will be on the safer side....also does anyone know what the stock compression ratio is???since the little puddle problem i want to do some kind of compression test to see whats up....Also thanks Lefix, sounds like you have a nice setup going for you and good luck to you, as for the tuner my friend and i know a guy in the orlando area who does tuning for my friend and i really cheap and he is one of the best...Lefix wat size is your turbo???i am thinking about getting a 30 or 35 trim for now....
