supercharger or turbo
Wednesday, August 15, 2007 8:43 AM
hi.... i have a 04 sunfire sportech and i want to make it a bit kicker to keep up with the cobalt ss, so i was wondering if i should get a supercharger or a turbo kit. i just want to know what are the pros and cons of each such as power gains, motor damage, instalation and price

turbo more chance fo blowin it up do to the common fact you always want to turn it up. supercharger less chance of blowin the motor and simple to instal.both will shorten the life of the motor due to the pistons being cast for Na not forged for strenght.

ok so the supercharger sounds like the best choice, but if i don't upgrade my pistons how long will the motor last. also i read there is an issue about the connecting rods not being strong enough should i be concerned about this.

your connecting rods are plenty strong enough to handel the power from say a gmsc

THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE, i have already died once and im still here so lets just leave it on the track

i'd go turbo, but thats just me. Takes more to install and maintenance but has more power potential I think. But like I said, thats just me...if all you wanna do is keep up with cobalts than your better off with a SC, if you plan on adding more power later on go turbo................OR you could always go nitrous lol

no more cavy...now 240 =]

I see a cool-air intake
It's got a NOS-fogger system and a T-4 turbo
I see an A.I.C. controller
It has direct port nitrous injection
Yeah, a stand-alone fuel management system
...Not a bad way to spend $10,000

People just hate having thousands of resources available on the site and to have repeat questions that are beat to death. That's why most either complain or direct new guys to the Search button.

Do some research. What's better for you depends on what you want. My suggestion after going turbo, don't bother doing anything - the truth is it's all just a waste of money in the end.

well i think since you spelled it kicker instead of quicker...you probably shouldn't be driving a car period...let alone trying to make the one you got now faster

personally i like turbos over superchargers. but i think it comes down to personal opinion. we own a cobalt ss, and i love it, its great on the low end and pretty good on the high end as well. if you want a turbo you have to consider that (varying on how big of a turbo you go) you will have turbo lag, either a lil, or alot. a supercharger, doesnt have lag, but over all its more limited on the high end than a turbo...

if im correct, a t3 super60 has almost no lag, and with some apps, virtually none at all. its a great over all turbo for the Js

i have a super 60 on my daytona along w/ the super60 cam and there is very minimal to no lag and i'm running 14 psi intercooled. it's an awesome product

People say that what doesn't kill you in this life
will make you stronger. I'm not sure if that is true
or not, but i do know one thing-You have to learn from
it and it has to make you better.......it has to.......
