A few newb boost questions
Sunday, September 30, 2007 12:42 AM
Basically, Im piecing together an ld9 turbo kit and had a few questions. Be easy on me, Im new to boost lol.

For injectors I realy dont want to have to worry about splicing wires and such cause I hate any kind of wiring, so Im looking for more something that will fit fine and be able to use the same connectors. I plan to run around 7-8lbs, which I heard would be a little too much for use with the ld9 sc injectors. So im thinking of running lsj injectors, which I believe fit ok and plug right up, but you have to elongate a few holes. Im not realy sure of what needs to be done, so does anyone have a pic or writeup showing this? Its hard for me comprehend something unless I can actualy see it. Hopefully next year I can build a motor and run around 11-13lbs, and step up to some rc 550's or something.

I plan to use hpt and I just recently heard about a local guy who tuned my buddies car, but if for some reason I would have to use the gm flash temporarily I would be limited to using the 310cc's and sc map right?

Also, would it be a problem if I didnt use the stock oil press sensor? I have a 1/4 npt pipe and fitting to use for my oil feed since I couldnt find a Y fitting to use my factory sensor as well.

Thanks in advance

if you're not comfortable with cutting wires and putting new pigtails on, then stay away from turbo until you are. thats one of the most basic things you could do.

I can do it, its just I hate doing it lol. And since lsj injectors will fit and plug in, why go through the trouble of splicing wires? They should be good for about 7psi.

When talking injectors, it doesn't matter about PSI, it all comes down to horsepower and your goals. One person pushing 5psi with turbo A could be laying down alot more than one person with turbo B at 7psi. There's a bunch of calculators around JBO that can help with this.

Yea I know thanks man. Wasnt realy asking if they would support the power/amount of boost, but about fitment and whats needed to make them fit. Obviously more boost equals more power lol.

Im gona keep my eye out for a set of lsj injectors, which should be good for my power goals I have. Dont realy want to push more than 7-8lbs on my stock ld9 with 85k on it haha. I guess Ill see what needs to be modified when I put them in.

FYI. it's 2 wires/injector x 4. 8 splices total. It takes all of 10 minutes. If you are new to boost, read about tuning first, before you worry about changing your injectors. I have a t4/t04E 50 trim stg3 and I run 10P.S.I. daily, on a stock motor. HPT tuned with 750cc RC injectors, I spliced the wires.

I know many of you are saying just splice the wires, but if I can run plug and play injectors now why not? They are plenty enough for what I want. Next year when I build a motor and see more boost and get bigger injectors, then I will splice them in. But why do it it twice if not needed, plus lsj injectors can be found very cheap.
