Im trying to get into the Turbo J-body scene and have pretty much based my desicion to be Hahn because I won't have to relocate my battery and I keep my A/C and a few other reasons. But I was wondering if the only difference between Stage 1 and Stage 2 is an intercooler? if so wouldn't it be cheaper to buy a stage one. then buy a intercooler for cheaper elsewere and save like 600$ ....

its on there site, its more then an intercooler
intercooler, ALL the charge piping. fmu, injectos and fuel pump. so its more like 1000 bucks.

Intercooled is the way to go....especially if you intend on going more than 7psi.
You might think 5psi non-intercooled is good but you'll want more and more and more...you get it!!
For all the extras its worth the money.

to install a turbo kit it should take a good days work (including beer breaks, swear jar spending and tool runs) Other then that its pretty straight forward and someone with avid mechanical skills could complete it in a day with 1 or 2 other people around to help

well me and hypsy are both in the 12s.. we are both running the hahn kit.. there isnt that many Js in general running better then 13s due to MOST people are on stock motors. im sure hypsy will agree with me when i say this, i think we both could be in the 11s if traction was a lil more easy to get.. hardly hahns fault
not being a dick but thats kind of a blut dumb comment. 8psi and a low 14/high 13 is pretty good for a car that runs mid 15s stock.... and a 16g turbo is a good all around street turbo. its not something to make crazy amounts of power, but its usuable streetable power. cheap to buy. one of the cheapest out to rebuild. and internally gated for ease.
cant really target hahn for that.. their the only company that makes a true complete bolt on and go kit for our cars. the people that are running alot faster with less boost are all custom kits. boosted2point4, speedracer, sun cavi, skilz. their garret turbos are on the large size compaired to hahn or most street friendly turbo kits for other cars as well. and in that 1200-1500 range for the turbo charger alone... i think the 16g is somewhere around 500ish??
like i said im not trying to be a dick to you or slam you, so please dont get offended or upset. just stating you truely cant say its the hahn kit or boost level or even driver. its a basic kit thats ment to give a lil extra power without giving up being reliable. if you want to make more power theres the 20g or if u have the want to go bigger(and money) im sure hahn is more then willing enough to make a copy of the manifold and turbo off adams car.
but for the other 80% of the jbody owners that will stay on stock internals, their stage II 16g kit is more then enough. a complete bolt on kit, intercooler and a basic fuel system for 3600 is pretty damn good. a full race manifold an gt35/45r is damn near that price alone.
and as far as the hahn kit and auto tranny, i THOUGH it had something to do with the down pipe? maybe i missunderstood and it was a charge pipe?? either way it was a clearence problem.

i never said it was hahns fault, but i would personaly put together my own kit for cheaper
all my point was, spend $3500 and run 13's- 14's(unless the motor isnt stock) when people i know (not gonna name unless they give me permission) have put together their own kits for $1500 less and run faster on stock motors

There was an autocross earlier this year where I spanked a brand new 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo in my 1SV base model cav.... I'm trying to tell anyone a 911 Turbo is a waste becasue you can buy a cavialier with a couple mods for less and it'll be faster around the track.... they completely untrue. The car itself is leaving me and my cavi butt hurt for weeks but it simplely comes down to the @!#$ couldn't drive to save his life. I've beaten a 911 T, STi's Evos, WRXs, Nissan 240's, a new Shelby GT500KR, Lotus Exige a couple times, etc etc etc... all of which are faster cars then my cavi... but a car is only as fast as its driver.
to base your claims off times that you've seen on the internet is retarded.... especially on site where half the memebers are still in highschool.
like i have said, i have NOTHING against hahn racecraft i was trying to state that if you know everything you need you can put it together by yourself for cheaper
but if you want a full kit ready to go, no work involved (other than bolting it on and tuning) then hahn is the way to go but will cost a bit more

and as far as running 12s with a 1500 kit.. u have to have alot of hook ups considering everyone running those times with custom kits are running turbo chargers ranging from 1000- 1800 area. so unless your damn near sponsered with dirt cheap parts.. theres no way you can get a GOOD intercooler, turbo manifold. FITTING charge pipe kit, and fuel system + a badass turbo for 1500. never mind all the lil misc gaskets, bolts, clamps. all the trips to the part store.

thats saying its the hahn kit. their the only ones that even make a complete kit for our cars.
well thats you... personaly I dont have time to do my own R&D and fitting and making a custom kit. i dont have a machine shop. i dont have the time or money to work out all the lil problems that happen vs having a bolt on a go system.
any other turbo kit with an intercooler is around that 3k mark. 3 grand to take almost 2 full seconds off is pretty good. besides running nitrous. how 13s is fast for a 4 cylinder... how fast to you expect a stock motor cavalier to run with ANY turbo kit?
and yeah people with custom kits are running the same or faster. but guess what. their on built engines. boosted2point4, speedracer, sun cavi, skilz, raven, are all custom made kits. and guess what. they all have 10k+ into their powerplant.
and again. MOST of the poeople on here will stay on stock motors, dont have a huge knowledge on cars or access to make their own kit.

you just turned 18 a few days ago.. you still have alot to learn. again not trying to be a dick. but making your own kit is alot more involved then you think.. almost everyoen would rather spend a lil extra money and have something 100% proven to work and work well. rather then spending countless hour trying to do it themselves. never mind even having access to equipment to be able to do it on their own.

also thought i should add. the reason most of the kits are in that high 13/low 14 second area is most are running around 8psi.. thats like 220ish hp in a cavalier. that along with not knowing how to launch adds up.
without going to the track yourself and being in the seat. its hard to understand. i made quite a few 13 second passes(granted my traps were around 115 all the time) traction makes it hard to get good times. and an open diff fwd car its even worse.

never said you could build a kit for 1500, i said you can put together a kit for about 1500 less than the almost $4000 hahn kit also never said you can 12's on a cheaper selfmade kit
as for my age, unlike everyone that is in their mid 20's and up thinks......... not all 18 year old kids think big wings, stickers and rims make you go fast.
ive been working on cars since i was little, do i know everything about cars?, no
do i know enough to piece together my own turbo kit?, yes
and look up skunk v.2k4 he spent 2200 on his full turbo set up, when ever he fixes his wheel bearing and axles im sure he will be able to run low 13's high 12's on a stock eco just like another car with his same setup

skunk is friends with the guy that did his kit or has some kind of sponsership. hes helping bonnet with it as well

I had the car finished and running in 17hrs (2 days of work). I cut nothing and only lost my washer bottle. Thanks to Bonnett, he posted that a Tercel bottle fits and he was right on the money!! I just had my car inspection and emmission tested in PA. It passed with flying colors, no CEL, on the stock '05 pcm.
If you don't want a headache, Hahn is the way to go in my opinion.
