2.7" m45 s/c pulley
Sunday, June 08, 2008 5:21 PM
So I just got my 2.7" pulley from smoothflow and my alternator and crank pulley from MD-LD9 on and my first drive I could feel a bit of difference...during my first run with them on I went to the highway to open it up a bit to see if it made a difference with my boost...I was seeing around the same boost through town at low rpms (about 4-4.5) with my new pulley...with my stock 2.8" pulley I was seeing 5psi at redline...during my first highway run I saw a little better than 6psi...now for some reason I am back to only seeing 5psi which is the same as my stock 2.8" pulley...not sure if something is wrong or what...wondering what could have caused it to drop a psi of boost...I am kinda wondering if people have had similar issues or if anyone has any suggestions...I am going to make sure all the manifold bolts are tight...wondering if I could be getting some belt slippage with the new pulley...I'm wondering if people see a slight decrease in psi when the weather gets a little warmer...if anyone has some suggestions or ideas that would be great.

Yes colder = higher boost, hotter it gets, the less boost is made. Usually only a slight difference. Spray some meth and chill that bitch out.

I just went for a spin 20 minutes ago...its a little cooler this evening (16 degrees)...and I was 6psi again...I think I am going to look into alky injection in a month or 2...I got to get my suspension done first...so with the meth, will that help me keep my boost up when its warmer out? I'm pretty sure most people see around 6psi with the 2.7" pulley from what I have heard on here.

When its colder out Ill see 6.5-7psi with my 2.7 pulley, when its above 70 degrees or so is when Ill only see about 5-6 tops at redine.

As far as i'm concerned i have one of the fastest m45 setups. The only other person faster is someone from team green but i believe they pulled a 13.7 on a 35 shot. As far as Wade goes, we have similar mods yes but anyone knows just because you have the same mods on 2 motors, doesn't mean they are equal.

My setup has went 13.9 @ 103 on streets before meth, with 2.6" pulley, and before the ported charger. My tune is now outta wack a tad but still very strong. I'm still on the stock fuel pump and stock auto trans which is rare on here for my setup doing what it has.

I don't base too much off track times because theres so many variable involved on why you ran XXX time and not XXX time ect.

My motor is now sold so look forward to another build.

I do believe it would be beneficial to get the alky...what does wade run? must be pretty handy to a 14 or quicker...so you guys notice quite a difference with the meth?

Hey guys, Probably not the best place to ask but how the HELL do you go about swapping a 2.7" pulley on to the M45? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

You would need to buy a modular kit. No one makes a smaller press on like the stock 2.8. I would recomend smoothflow. If it is not listed on the site call or send an email. He will know exactly what you want.
