Umm bad confession i was reading that long as post about the kid that bought that turbo kit off ebay...
I kinda did the same things... but different it is for a 2.4 and i wasnt able to find entire kit from reputable companies besides going with and RSM centrifugal supercharger
or the standard roots type from GM
I went to Aaron as well as you guys a while ago and asked what would be a good turbo... You asked and I went and did some research (never did look at compressor maps)
So i ordered a good turbo through turbonectics from turbo tech (about 2K)
i have the engine built... I bought new
RC Engineering injectors
Cartech FMU
Elect tec 3
Walbro Fuel pump
Autometer guages
Greddy Type RS blow off valve
Tial 38mm Wastegate (plan to run open till i get a 3 inch exhaust)
And a CAST Log style turbo manifold from ebay from a guy in Canada (he once was on the Jbody site selling them i think)
The problem was a purchased a pipe kit and intercooler off ebay.
The pipe kit is 2.5 inch with different bends and lengths... Ijust havent seen other people setups to know exactly how and where to run the pipes
The intercooler was also off ebay but posted it only had a 1.5 PSI drop and has inlet outlet on opposite sides....
I just really need some guidance and help from the Experienced guys put together their own kits
Andrew
I could of sworn I seen this EXACT post somewhere else from you lol
Anyway.
Nice stuff that you bout out side of ebay. Get rid of the ebay pipe kit crap, gonna have to make your own in that dept.
It's possible to use that intercooler with the inlet/outlet on thte same size. Once you put the turbo on, and hook the intercooler up you will see how to run your piping from there.

bc you
did.
david-his intercooler has inlet & outlet on opposite sides.
you really can get creative on how you route your charge pipes. here is a
thread w/ some examples
my carDomain updated 10/31/09 Forged and Supercharged
The ebay pipe kits are not all bad just dont use the cheap @$$ clamps & They require a whole lot more cutting and fitting than you would expect. But if you spent 2k on a turbo why not just buy a Hahn kit?

so i did good on getting the intercooler inlet outlet on opposite sides????
if i remember the pipe from ebay was nippled i guess on the ends of the pipes and uses t-clamps for the silicone adapters
about the hahn kit... i thought they didnt have one for a 2.4L LD9????
Yea not bad.
Hahn doesn't have one for the LD9 no.

thanks guys. im glad i have done well this time around. See thats why i went with a custom kit from ebay.. i will have to look and more sure the T-bolt clamps are decent ones
From the list i gave what else do you think i will need?
Also how did you guys to your return oil line and feed line?
Andrew
oil lines
oil fittings
Oil restrictor fitting (must or the turbo will smoke like a MFer)
Vacuum lines
Vacuum block (could use T or Y fittings also)
small clamps (for vacuum lines)
Oil
replacement oil filter
New exhaust manifold gasket or high temp red silicone (I personally use the silicone)
I recommend getting...
Oil filter sandwich adapter plate (easy supply for turbo)
HPT Pro or figure out who is going to tune your car
GM 3 Bar Map sensor
i have heard of using the 2 bar map sensor i have only heard 3 if you are using lots of boost...
cause isnt a bar 14.7 for BARO pressure and two bar would just be double that?
so like anyhting about 15 psi
i have never heard of a sandwich plate... where do i find one of those
i was thinking about HPT but i have Electromotive right now
I got my sandwich adapter off eBay,same thing with my vacuum blocks. I'll let some one else explain the differences in MAP sensors. I am far from the best one to explain it.
i feel so dumb i never saw the thread posted for the routing of charge pipes...
thanks so much guys
JOSH G. when you got it on EBAY did it say for cavalier or just sandwich adapter plate?
Says for cavaliers. Maybe search for cavalier oil and see if it comes up that way.
does that work for a 2.4L LD9 ?
I'm not sure. I am a 2200 guru and haven't had any tinkerings with LD9/ECO engines. Maybe one day I'll ditch the OHV beast LOL.
Can anybody else anwser this for the man?
You would have to check and see if either the oil filter for the 2200 interchanges with the ld9, or go on WIXs website and lookup the filters for each motor and and compare threads and stuff.
Thanks for showing us that sandwich plate.
No problem. Pretty neat idea for those who don't want to tap a block/pan or can't afford to.
