I want to be around the 300whp area once i turbocharge my Z24. I want to know more or less what I need to hit my mark. So far I have a turbo setup that I got here on the classifieds with 36 pound injectors, charge pipes, fmic, ho intake mani, and a log style manifold. I want to use Turbonetic's T3 Super 60 turbo. I know i will need to build my bottom end and I would like to build the head as well. It's going to be a slow process since I am a full time student and have a part time job. I also want to keep my a/c and p.s. My mod list is up to date. I want the car as a daily driver that i can take once in a while to the local 1/4 mile strip and have some respectable numbers. Thanks in advance
I'm kinda unsure what your question is that your asking, it appears you have what you need. Everything you listed looks like it will get you your goals, but those injectors are going to be too small for 300whp. So I'm not sure if you were looking for someone to tell you what you listed will get your goals or not but with a built motor and the T3 super 60 should get you to your goals. As for motor parts I got a lot of my stuff from Turbo Tech Racing, they have a lot of what you need (pistons, rods, valve springs etc.) and their prices are good too, so take a look at their site.
Like bottom end wise, what pistons would be good, compression, bore, and all of that. I want the car to last so I want to do it right the first time. What other fuel mods I would need and what electronics as well
Well compression as your adding a fair amount of boost to get your goals, and TTR has one listed for our car (wiseco). I don't want to spoon feed you cause all this info is on this site. A set of eagle rods as well and many would say some sort of oiling system upgrade. Some do the 2.3 oil swap but I just bought a melling replacement. Take a look here:

As for fuel, a walbro pump would be a nice addition and you'll need a map sensor (I did a 3 bar). But do some seaching on here, all the info is on the site as there have been many people to build 300+ hp motors. Also check people profiles and see what they have listed, cause it will give u an idea of what others have done for their turbo setups.
ill look into it, thanks. as for the map sensor, the "kit" i bought here on the classifieds came with a gm 2.4L supercharger map sensor, would that be good?

Do you know if it's the same size TMAP sensor from the Ecotec kit? Or can you give a part number from it? You're going to need to know which sensor it is for tuning purposes. A 2.5bar would be fine for the 300whp goal you have with that size turbo I'm sure. I think you're good for around 14-15psi if I'm not mistaken and a built motor will get you there quick.
"Vroom."
"Yo I wouldn't race him, there's not even an interior in his car man."
"Vrooooooom PSSSSHHH!"
"Oh sh*t. F*ck that, dude..."
I'm not sure, I'll check tonight when im home
A simple bottem end build with the right size turbo and tuning will put you at the hp level you want. I tuned a bone stock 2.4 with a twin charged setup to 266+whp. I know we could have gotten 300 without the charger.

He needs more info than that. Depending on the route he goes for tuning he might not need a map sensor, or a different from stock.
Seeing as his car is 00+ I would go with HPTuners and the GM reflash and 2 bar map sensor. Considering 551whp has been made on that tuning setup it will do for his goals.

Your injectors are going to be just about tapped out at 80% duty cycle at that hp. But you could just run a higher duty cycle, so you should be alright with them. Your turbo is also going to be just about tapped out as it is only capable of flowing ~35lbs/min, which would put you in the 300whp range.
I hope everything works well, it could be close in regards to the turbo. You may have to run boost pressures over 20psi as well. And you will be in the outer islands on the compressor map resulting in lower efficiency. Maybe you should consider a larger turbo or adjusting your goals a little. Maybe like 260whp, the turbo would probably like a little more and you might be able to get away with some lower boost pressures. It's up to you, but I think it would be to your advantage. The Super 60 is going to spool stupid quick on a 2.4, but a t3t4 would still spool pretty quick and you will have no problem reaching your goals then. Maybe a t3t4 50 trim or 57 trim.
Also, if you plan on using the Super 60, you should check to see if it has a 360° thrust bearing (I think most Turbonetics turbos do) because the turbo will probably fail prematurely (if you don't have one) as you are going to have to run boost pressures in excess of 1bar.
I was thinking a T3 seemed a bit small for 300whp and I don't want to have the setup at its limit, I'd feel a lot safer if it wasn't. Right now i have a log mani for a T3 turbo and the 36lbs injectors, but if I can get close to my goal with this setup and the super 60 I'd be fine with it. I just want to have a setup that wont give out on me real quick.
I think you can get close... but I have doubts that you will reach 300whp. It's possible, but with a larger turbo you can definitely achieve your goals. Food for thought.
Regardless of what trim turbocharger, i don't think 36 lb/hr injectors are adequate for 300WHP. Hell, i'm not sure 42lb/hr will get you there under 80% IDC. I believe in having some head room as far as injectors go and tend to size them a bit bigger than the estimated goal.
oldskool- I'm in the low 30% duty cycle on my 42lb/hr injectors at 249whp with a racetronix pump....300 shouldn't be impossible

Wow that doesn't sound right at all, but i'll take your word for it. Stock fuel pressure? Running water/meth? That IDC is saying you can make close to 500whp out of 42lb injectors, which just doesn't sound right (unless you are running eight of them lol), and why i'm asking.
I just used the formula for injector duty cycle and 300bhp @ 80% duty would require 56.25lb injectors. I had the lsj injectors (36lb) on 190whp and I couldn't get much more with them safely and I was running meth as well. I went with 89lb injectors for my new setup and I am looking for 300whp, a little more than I needed but I'll never run out of injector. Formula says 89lb injectors are good for 475hp @ 80% duty.
I have 42lb injectors with meth and I'm running in the 80-89 IDC range. I'm also at the 220whp mark.

That sounds more accurate than the 42lb injectors at 30% duty cycle with 250whp. Something just doesn't add up unless he is running a 5th injector. Formula comes out with 46lb injectors at 80% duty with 250bhp so your 42's with meth would probably be pretty handy to a 46lb injector

Thats what I remember Ryan 9Cavattack 2200) telling me when we had my car on the dyno when we had it on the rollers. I was suprised myself, I'm running stock pressure, and the F body Racetronix with 14.4 volt harness. No 5th injector, no meth.. I'm sure he has the info on his computer still from when he tuned me last March....I could be wrong but thats what I remember.

Maybe you have super injectors
Not saying its not possible but that seems crazy low duty for that much power.
i have 42lb injectors and at 325hp. not sure what duty cycle ryan has them set at but i know he said he doesnt like going over 80%
Are the 42lb injectors the ones that come with the stage 2 kit for the cobalt? I thought they were what came with the kit but I could be wrong. If my memory serves me correct the stage 2 is around 245bhp and I have heard people running lean with them with a few bolt ons and a tune. But every car is different.
To correct my above post... because I'm a tard and calculated the injector size based on an NA 6-cylinder... HA!
36lbs injectors will not cut it! 66lbs injectors @ 80% duty cycle will put you in the ball park. And if you're having a little trouble, just turn the duty cycle up a bit.
ok so these injectors are out lol ill be looking for others soon
