Hey turbo guru's need some help with my car. I have a 2002 2.2 non-ecotec Cavalier. I had a performance company install a custom turbo setup and tune, but once he touched the car it hasn't ran properly since. I put a T3/T4 hybrid turbo, upgraded the stock injectors to 440cc, custom turbo header, intercooler, running around 7-10psi, with a greddy emanage and a HP tuners, on the advice of the tuning company. Check engine light is always on, says its rich on decel. It also hiccups around 2 thousand rpm when holding a constant throttle position, also in neutral the car spits and sputters if you give it some throttle. I have lost all confidence in this performance company due to his inability and incompetence to fix the tuning and I refuse to take it back. This relatively simple turbo install has been a nightmare from the time he blew the headgasket and blamed me for it and I hadn't seen the car in 3 months, then the bill started to rise and rise. Please turbo tuning guru's help a guy in need, haven't driven the car in 2 years because of the way it runs, just collects dust in my garage. Bought it brand for my 18th birthday and the car only has 30,000 kms. Thanks for any and all help. If there is anything else you need to help me, please let me know. Thanks again for any help.
I would remove the emanage, HP Tuners is capable of everything you need to do. You have the symptoms of an all around bad tune. If you can't tune it yourself, take it to someone who knows Cavaliers (do your research, there aren't many).
As far as your hiccup around 2000, I bet the tuner did not make a smooth transition between the high and low VE tables, which seems to be fairly common.
Do you know of any tuners in the Central Alberta, Canada area with the knowledge to re-tune it? Thank you.
No sir. Maybe try posting in the regional forum?
definitely rip that emanage off. its not needed. see if you can find someone selling a used hptuners. when you get it find someone with a tune thats willing to share the file to get you in the ballpark. if i still had it i would help. someone here has to have an hpt file for a 2200. even if its a stock file that will work too so you can start fresh.
I would ditch the Emanage, get a 2bar MAP sensor, and utilize the LD9 reflash....
