crank case pressure

whats the easiest way to vent the crank case so its not seeing boost? i keep reading that ppl just block it off but that sounds rather un healthy.... i never thought of it to be a problem until i shot a rod through the block... now it seems like something to fix before the new engine goes in on tuesday...

No, never block it off. You have to either vent it to the atmosphere using a breather filter or catch can and breather filter, or it had to be routed to a vac only source such as turbo intake or charge pipe/manifold with a check valve. Never block it though. It needs to be able to vent any positive crankcase pressure (what PCV stands for)

eco, ld9, ln2? turbo, supercharged? They all have a slightly different solution.

I run a vented oil cap and a catch can on my lsj. Will be good enough for hp under 500 hp...

2 -10an fittings welded on the valve cover would be the best solution.

i have an eco with the stock plastic manifold.... so theres a breather in the manifold that goes to cyl 2 and 3 .... i have the valve cover breather running to the turbo... and the intake manifold i just plugged with a screw..

It would be better if you tapped the area where the pvc in the manifold was and sent that to a catch can and permanent vac source. You of course have to seal that hole off from the rest of the intake or bad things'll happen.

well i thought about that but what are people using as the nipple? i have 3 intake manifolds so i have room for failure but thats not a very big spot to put a port plus the vent holes into the 2&3 ports need sealed so boost doesnt escape

people drill and tap and put just a brass npt to barbed fitting in.

this is what i did on my aftermarket intake. i ran the vent on the cam cover and the vent on the center of intake to my turbo inlet pipe.. no issues...
