A couple turbo questions
Saturday, July 30, 2005 3:49 PM
This is on an ecotec t3, intercooled, auto transmission, running apfr, cartech fmu, injectors, and pump.

Is it ok to only have a low a/f under wot? If im at half or 3/4 throttle my car will still build boost but will only drop a/f to low 14's. But when I smash the gas the whole way it will stay at a high 10 low 11 a/f under boost.

Is it possible to run rich even with a 14.7 a/f at idle and cruising speeds. Just seems like my car is using alot of gas. I did make a lot of tuning runs where I was running real rich wich might of used alot of gas.

On the highway my operating temps are fine but in traffic im about 2 lines over 195. And when I shut my car off the fan stays on for a couple minutes. Is that normal?

I alos figured out why I couldnt make more than 3 or 4 psi... I opened my tial wastegate to find a yellow spring (3.63psi) instead of the 5.8 psi spring that was supposed to be in there. So Im in need of a MBC. What is a decent/reliable brand to get? Is dual stage worth the extra cash?

cant you buy the springs to put in your wastegate? instead relying on a Manual boost controller..?

my ecotec does the same thing after a hot day and traffic..the fan will stay on a little while after i shut the car down..

Is it better to use wastegate springs or a boost controller?

i would say the springs, only becuase there more of a chance for the boost controller to spike.
