My 4t40E has either a bad tcc solenoid or worn/slipping convertor clutch. I got the wiring diagram and snipped the brown wire on the 20 pin connector so that the TCC would no longer apply. Of course I then got the service engine light but the car drives great - shifts 1234 just dousn'r shudder and shake at lockup anymore.
My question is will the additional heat generated by the TC (not locked up) damage everything else? I think I was headed for a trans rebuild anyway - wouldlike to get another 30K or so out of this thing without dumping in two grand. By the way its a Saturn L - this forum is better than the Saturn forum! Thanks!
where'd you find a diagram for the tcc solenoid wiring? Mine squeaks when you try to accelerate while the clutch is locked but if you give it enough gas to unlock its fine. I usually drive in 3 unless I'm on the higway so I don't hear it. I will get a new convertor eventually but its just an annoying problem and i'd like to put a switch in the cabin to control the lockup so I can keep it unlocked around town and lock it once i'm on cruise control on the highway.

regular haynes manual has it in it, its how i found the pressure wires for the shiftplus
Its not how fast your car goes....its how much nerve the driver has to push it that fast.
where is the tcc solenoid? ive been told mine is bad cause it dies when i put it in gear after being driven for awhile
