Any body seen this?! replaced trans in 96 cavalier with boneyard replacement. Runs weel when cool but when engine reaches temp, the trans seems to lock up causing engine to stall. The tranny is a 3T40. I adjusted the TV cable. Please help. Son needs car for school.

Was the fluid and filter replaced? is the tranny cooler hooked up correctly? Other than these two things it would probably need to be rebuilt.
The TV cable only controls the shifting, so I doubt that would be the problem.
This is the problem with going through a salvage yard, you just dont know what you'll get. rebuilds are more expensive, but if it a reputable tranny shop or you can rebuild it your-self, you get the reliability.
