Guys,

Can anyone tell me how many teeth are on the VSS sensor for the 4t40e? Also, if the manual trans is differnt that one too would be useful.

Cheers,

Chris.

no, i just want to confirm the number i "think" is in the calibration for these things is actually correct for speedo recalibration purposes.

Chris (if you look at his forum name) is from HP Tuners, he is writing the software to recalibrate our ECU's, knowing how many teeth are on the VSS wheel then he can figure out what constants he has to change in the ECU to read different speeds (hence the speedometer recalibration).

Wish I knew Chris. I'll see if i can find out for you on Monday.

no worries

much easier to disable the speedlimiter and correct for gear/tire/chain/sprocket ratio's in software

Cheers,

Chris, if it helps any, the J-body VSS puts out 4000 pulses per mile. I will try and look tomorrow to see what the actual tooth count is.

You don't really disable the VSS, although i notice it is a hot topic around here!

The PCM has an inbuilt speed limiter function that cuts fuel when a certain speed is reached. Its not much fun for racing so our software should enable you to set the speed limit to whatever you like. You can even set it at 40 mph if your brother borrows the car...

Looking at the 2004 ecotec it seems to be set to cut fuel at 106 mph and then re-enable it again at 104 mph.

BTW, if anyone managed to find out the number of teeth on the VSS for the 4T40E please email me! Thanks guys.

i do not see why people around here get all pissed about making a car go faster. But Im not the one that cares, i figured it out, it took some time to understand the car and where i needed to look but i got it done.

But who is reprogramming you brain for you? this could be a better way to going about keeping my old lady at the speed limit around here when Im at work. She has more tickets than I ever though of having. So if i can "program" it to go 65 mph max that would kick a$$......Let me know
