Ok, so I was at the track, with a lot of time between runs, and on my third run (with a lot of time between my runs), my auto tranny did something weird.
I lined up, did a very quick 2 second burnout (more like a spin) to clean the tires off, and lined up. Trac off, staged, pressed the brake and held the rpms at 2k. When the light went green, let off and hit the gas, and all I heard was my car bouncing off the 4k rev limiter and I didn't feel a jolt like I was accelerating. Quickly i let off the gas, and looked down to see if I was i neutral, but no, I was in drive. So I pressed the gas lightly again, and the car went. Drove fine down the track at full throttle, but the launch was really really odd. its never done it to me before. I remember john piparo posting something similar, but he had a different year auto tranny (mine is 01, his is 96) and his happened on left turns. the car has run fine around the city with no problems. only that one time.
any ideas?

i was about to post that you were in neutral until i read on to see you checked for that, maybe there is something wrong with the cable that goes from the shifter to the tranny.... I know my friends sunfire had it break once... and mine is right by the downpipe and was getting burned until i wrapped the downpipe...
I have never had this happen, good luck in finding out!

but the tranny still is fine. so cant really be a broken cable....

mine does the same thing from time, to time. i havent figured it out yet....
I truly think it was in neutral for a second. Reason is with the Reaper I found you can move the auto shifter just a little in either direction and get it to be in between 2 gears, but would still read as in gear.

How's your trans fluid level? Mine did that when I first cranked the Autotrans Interceptor to 100% line pressure.. then I checked the fluid level, topped it up, and it never happened again.
tsk tsk you shouldn't of done that mountain run
