For some strange reason my speedo broke on my 2004 cavalier. Its a five speed with the getrag transmission. A mechanic friend of mine told me to check the VSS . Some sort of speed sensor. I couldn't find it on my tranny. Could some one help me with the location of this thing on my car.
Thank you!

It is on the back saide of the tranny. There is only 2 plugs going into the tranny the VSS is one of them.

The only one I saw was on the driver's side by the rear mount. It kinda screwed in... like it was a fluid level sensor. Is that the one... It had one green wire and the other was red maybe... Damn color blindness.

No that is not it. It is on the back side (near the fire wall). Inside of the rear tranny mount.
