ok so yesterday i was driving home and my temp gauge shot up because the heater core is bad and the lines weren't even holding water so it basically came out in a stream. well that evening i went ahead and tried to bypass the heater core and i did, then i started it up and it wasn't holding water in it at all. so ive come to the conclusion that it has blown a head gasket. which it did. and now im out a car. i need this stupid thing for school. and i really don't want to just put a new gasket on it because its going to take too long/ the car is auto and i want to swap it to manual anyway, and basically for 10 hours of work i can just go ahead and swap it out and be done with the stupid 93 motor. anyway its a real long story how it overheated. i noticed it on my winter break it was not holding water too well so i thought it was a leak but i never checked it. i just kept going to work because i need the hours. ok so heres what im thinking about doing. eather buying a new car, or fixing my car and swaping over my 96 2.2L 5 speed. i asked my autotech teacher today and he said it was fine to swap the motors out, BUT not the hydraulic clutch, and master cylinder and all. so my question i guess is. to the guys that swapped over the automatic to 5 speed how long did it take to swap the whole hydraulic system over???? im a newbie at this so this will be my first critical swap.
