I just got turned on the older NVG swap for the Isuzu and thought I read something about there being a rebuild kit for it. Anyone have a part number for this?

Good luck finding one..... I could not.
thanks wrench that makes buying an old NVG from a yard kind of tough cause if it goes i cant rebuild it.

just buy the new one from EP as i told you in the other thread
well i dont wanna spend 700+ on a tranny without an lsd cause i still have to buy a slave clutch and probably a new master the yard i got a quote from said 300 with a 90 day warranty so i still may just take a chance on that one.

whoa whoa...700 for a new nvg?? where is this at???!!

I got mine 5 years ago for 390 from weller... lol new GM.

Can somebody verify this for me please, the NVG is a DIRECT swap into a 97 sunfire with 2.2?
NO

although it would be nice for that motor to use the v6 nvg bell housing with the w41 gearing
So the NVG-T550 won't work on the 2.2 without modifycation. Why not? I'm pretty sure the mounts are the same, I know the bolt pattern is the same so it'll bolt up to the engine ok. I was told that any 5 speed tranny from a 92-94 gm 3.1 car will be a direct replacement for my car (97 sunfire 2.2) is this right?

If you get the 3.1 trans it will work with the 2.2 but the gearing is horrid for that trans and it will not be the best fit for your powerband.... too low of a FDR
So I'll get in this one too. I've got an 01 Cav 2.2 with the 3 speed auto and I want to swap to a manual. Anyone know for sure which ones will bolt up. I've seen a lot of posts talking about what will bolt up to the 2.4, but not the 2.2. Still can't figure out what would have possessed them to put in a 3 speed auto to start with... walks away shaking his head...
Since you have a 2200 just get with the F23 Getrag that was offered in the 00'-02' ohv j's or you could get any 00'-05' manual but if it didn't origionally come on an LN2 ( 2200 ) car you would have to switch the belhousing.
... IF you think it will work.....
oh, i dont know,
TRY IT.

This is correct.

I've got everything you need except the shifter. I'd recommend getting all the pedals as well, because your uto brake pedal is bigger and will be clunkier around the feet. I've got a getrag from a 2000 Sunfire SE (2200) clutch, master cylinder, pedals, shift cables, linkage, everything. $200

Is it a hard swap or bolt in and go? I know the gearing is gonna suck, but my main reason for going with the 3.1 tranny and not the getrag I have is because the car is my daily right now, but in april when I get a new car this ones going in for a 3400 swap.

Some people don't have the luxury of having 2 cars to drive. This car is my daily driver until april. I cannot afford to pull the trans out and find out that the one I bought won't fit, then go looking for another isuzu to put back in it.
The FDR isn't different by much. 2.2 is 3.58 and the NVG is 3.61
The gearing is a little steeper on the isuzu tranny though, and I get what your saying, the lower gear ratios will make the 2.2 a little sluggish, but hopefully my tranny will outlast the engine so I can put the 3400 and the NVG in at the same time.
3.61 ? my nvg has 3.94 ...what year is yours

Then get one from a 94 Z24, 3.62 FDR, and inter slave, so your OE hydro lines will work.
Buy another car? I got my Blazer for 200 bucks, its nice to be able to fix them yourself, ya know?
